What exactly is Goblin Slayer?

Goblin Slayer, as the name suggests, is a term used to describe the profession of someone who hunts goblins. In this work, characters do not have individual names and are all referred to by their occupations, so the term Goblin Slayer in this context refers to the protagonist. Our protagonist, Goblin Slayer, suffered a terrible fate at the hands of goblins in the past, and became the Goblin Slayer in order to eradicate them. He has no interest in other enemies, and simply hunts goblins.
What is the appeal of Goblin Slayer?

What's appealing about this work is that, instead of a fantasy worldview like an RPG, the setting is very human. Not only are emotions like love and hatred expressed, but human strength is also realistic. It's far from an anime where the protagonist is the strongest. And, above all, the story is darker than other fantasy stories. This series is so full of the unpleasant aspects of humans (and monsters) that I wonder if it deserves an R-rating.
