In the world of Goblin Slayer, magic is limited in number of uses, but that limit seems very low compared to other fantasy and RPGs. Goblin Slayer's party often ask their members how many times they have left to use magic, and since everyone's answer is almost always a few times, this is the norm in this world. For this reason, it is essential to have healing potions, antidotes, attack traps, and tactics on hand at all times. This time, we will introduce the magic that appears in the work. Depending on the job, it is called a miracle or other name, but we will refer to it all as magic.

[Goblin Slayer] The first magic spell in this series is the sorceress's magic

The sorceress, one of the first members of the priestess's party, is a talented individual who graduated with honors from the Academy of Sages. The magic used by this sorceress is the first magic spell to appear in this series. The name of the spell is never revealed, but he uses fire-based magic to repel one goblin. Unfortunately, the remaining goblins arrive afterwards and stab him with a poisoned blade, killing him.

[Goblin Slayer] Magic Usable by the Priestess

When the Priestess met Goblin Slayer, she was able to use two types of magic (miracles): the healing spell Minor Heal and the radiant Holy Light, which could be used up to three times. While these initial abilities are apparently excellent, the Priestess she first encountered was still inexperienced in adventuring. Afterwards, I was able to use a spell called Holy Wall, which creates a wall that no monsters can pass through. When I used this wall to block the hole and burn down the entire goblin nest to repel them, I wondered if it was okay to use holy power in this way. I was also granted Silence along with the Holy Wall.

[Goblin Slayer] The Elf Archer's Arrows Are Not Magic

The Elf Archer's arrow curved from right to left, like a baby, piercing two goblins on guard with a single arrow. However, this was not magic, but simple skill. According to the Elf Archer, when a person is highly skilled, their technique is indistinguishable from magic. However, no such magic has been discovered to date.

[Goblin Slayer] The Lizard Priest uses magic, but is he really a priest?

The Lizard Priest's magic (miracle) is to summon a small bone dinosaur using bone as a catalyst, known as a Dragon Fang Soldier, and he can also create a weapon called a Dragon Fang Sword. Judging from the word Lintaolong chanted when summoning, the Dragon Fang Soldier is likely modeled after the small dinosaur Velociraptor. Although they are called monks, they are actually lizard monks who specialize in close-range attacks. Their specialization in close-range attacks is probably related to their race, the Lizardmen, rather than their monk profession. By the way, they can also use healing.

[Goblin Slayer] The Dwarven Guide's Many Magic Tricks

As the name suggests, the Dwarven Guide possesses a wide range of spells. He can use a variety of spells, including Intoxication, Stone Bullet, Descent, Weathering, and Spirit Wall. The number of times seems to be more than for priestesses and lizard priests. When defeating the Goblin Champion, they used stone bullet and descent spells at the same time, which shows that although they do have a number of spells available, it is possible to use magic simultaneously. Dwarves seem to be a powerful race in general, but they seem to be weak at physical techniques.

[Goblin Slayer] Magic Used by the Ogre

The Ogre, known as a man-eating demon. This monster, who was entrusted with the herd by the Demon Commander, not only possessed powerful melee attacks, but also the power of a magic spell called a fireball. The Dwarf Guide was astonished by the power of the giant fireball. The priestess cast a double holy wall to save them, but it became clear that these higher-level monsters could also use powerful magic.

[Goblin Slayer] The Magic of Sleeping Cloud

During a battle with a group of goblin lords, Goblin Slayer used a meat shield. Along with the miner guide's intoxication, a man who appeared to be a wizard used a sleep cloud. This combination of magic successfully put the goblins to sleep. If the priestess could learn this sleep cloud, perhaps goblin extermination would go more smoothly.

[Goblin Slayer] Magic Used by the Witch

A silver-ranked witch. Although she works alongside the spearmaster, we've only seen her use magic directly once. As a witch, she likely wields powerful magic, but during their joint battle against the Goblin Lords, she only managed to deflect arrows. It appears that she can literally protect anyone within her magic's range from arrows. Goblin Slayer's orders for this battle are to eliminate enemy spellcasters first, demonstrating the daunting nature of magic.

【Goblin Slayer】Teleportation Scroll and Magic

Gate Connection

The teleportation scroll used in the battle against the orcs. It is a type of magical scroll, a scroll in which magic has been sealed using ancient techniques. It is a one-time consumable item, but it is a valuable item as it allows anyone to use the sealed magic. This scroll is imbued with teleportation magic, but Goblin Slayer had had a witch connect him to the destination beforehand. There was no explanation as to whether this is something only witches can do, or whether any magician can generally connect, but it seems that it was at least impossible for Goblin Slayer.

[Goblin Slayer] Goblin Shaman's Magic

The Goblin Shaman, who appears as an enemy at the beginning of the story. He is described as a spellcaster, even more skilled than the Porcelain Magician, making it clear that he can use magic. While not depicted in the original work, in the Goblin Slayer Gaiden, he uses a lightning spell called Thunder Arrow. If he continues hunting goblins, perhaps we'll get to see the Goblin Shaman's new magic at some point.

[Goblin Slayer] Summary of Magic in This World

It seems there will be even more magic to come in the world of Goblin Slayer. We can also look forward to the appearance of new character classes. I think we'll see characters like dragoons, magic warriors, entertainers, and impersonators. The number of times and power of spells can be improved through training, but the magic that can be used will probably depend on the job. The fact that it's difficult for such versatile people to emerge is one of the charms of Goblin Slayer.
