In the world of Goblin Slayer, becoming an adventurer is easy: simply register with a guild. Some adventurers appear to be illiterate, but there doesn't appear to be any immediate exam required. There, after receiving a brief explanation about being an adventurer, it appears you will be able to start working on requests straight away. Adventurers are divided into ten ranks. From the bottom up, they are "Porcelain," "Obsidian," "Steel," "Sapphire," "Emerald," "Ruby," "Bronze," "Silver," "Gold," and "Platinum." Porcelain is a novice adventurer, and it is mainly adventurers of this rank who complete goblin requests. Ruby, Emerald, and Lapis Lazuli are called mid-level. Bronze and Silver rank adventurers possess both credibility and ability. She is now the archbishop of the Supreme Being. She was part of the gold-ranked party that defeated the Demon Lord that appeared 10 years ago. In fact, the Sword Maiden herself was also a victim of goblins long ago. She lived in fear of the goblins that spawned beneath the temple. She is also the adventurer who uttered the girlish line, "I want to push you forward," to Goblin Slayer, who successfully exterminated the goblins at the request of the Sword Maiden.

To advance in rank, you must be certified by the union. For this reason, there is a promotion examination, and the criteria for the promotion examination include your previous compensation amount, contributions, personality, and credibility. The priestess referred to it as experience points, but it seems that contribution points are added up depending on the rank of the monster defeated. Just as Goblin Slayer witnessed his promotion exam, it seems to be a custom for higher-ranking adventurers to witness the promotion examinations of lower-ranking adventurers. No matter how powerful a goblin or how numerous a group of goblins appears, it generally does not seem to be considered a national problem, and in that sense, it is understandable why the highest rank of Silver rank in the private sector is highly valued by the city's guilds. The current event that is considered a national problem is the resurrection of the Demon Lord. However, when a group of goblins includes a higher-ranking species, even silver-ranked goblins face a tough battle. Although they are all called goblins, there seem to be unique and superior species, and the fighting power of goblin groups varies.
