The fourth season of "Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: Shin no Sara" is scheduled to begin airing in October 2019. The original manga has already reached its final episode, but the anime's solidarity food battles are just getting more intense! The third season ended with the first three bouts and the second bouts coming up. The fourth season will see the sequel begin airing. This time, we'll be giving you a sneak peek at what the fourth season will bring, based on the original manga, with some spoilers included!

The opponent is on par with the finals!? What will the pairings for the second bout be like?

The Second Battle Competitors

Since Season 3 ended with the First Stage, it's likely Season 4 will begin with the Second Stage. This raises questions about the chefs competing in the Second Stage. Megijima, Mimasaka, and Kuga will appear from the Rebel Alliance. Their rivals, the Top Ten, will feature Tsukasa, Rindou, and Saito, all of whom are first-, second-, and fourth-placed members of the Top Ten.

Mimasaka vs. Saito

The two fighting in the second bout

First up is the battle between Mimasaka and Saito. The theme given to the two was "tuna." Speaking of tuna, of course, it's sushi! At this point, Saito, the foremost sushi chef of the day, has an overwhelming advantage. Mimasaka counters by tracing his opponent's techniques with Perfect Trace Flash, an even more powerful version of his signature Perfect Trace, while incorporating his own original techniques.

Megijima vs. Gentian

Megijima vs. Gentian

It's no exaggeration to say that the most heated battle of the second bout was the Megijima vs. Gentian match! In the first bout, Megijima instantly defeated the fifth-placed player with overwhelming power. Although she lost her seat when Azami took over, the third-placed player's power remains overwhelming. Megijima's opponent was Gentian, who reigned as the second-placed player and was effectively superior. The theme ingredient served to the two was chili peppers. Gentian challenged Megijima to an African ramen dish with crocodile meat.

Kuga vs. Tsukasa

The two fight again

And the other battle is Kuga vs. Tsukasa. These two were originally both members of the Top Ten, but Kuga's skills are significantly different from Tsukasa's, the former Eighth Seat and the former First Seat. He once challenged Tsukasa to a fight, but was defeated miserably. Furthermore, he was humiliated by being barely even remembered by Tsukasa, so he challenged Tsukasa again in this solidarity Shokugeki, partly as revenge. While he would have liked to have faced Tsukasa one-on-one, this time he's part of a team, and is determined to defeat Tsukasa, not just relying on his individual skills, but also with the support of his teammates.

Who will be fighting in the Third Bout?

Third Bout Members

The Third Bout features some of the most eccentric characters among the Top Ten. The battle begins with the lower-ranking Rebel Alliance challenging the higher-ranking Top Ten. The biggest disparity of all is the showdown between Megumi and Momo! It will be interesting to see how well the results of their intensive training will hold up against the third-placed member of the Top Ten.

Megumi vs. Momo

Megumi challenges Momo

The highlight of the third bout is the Megumi vs. Momo Shokugeki! By pitting the perennial underachiever Megumi against Momo, the host even called the match a throwaway. What's more, the theme ingredient was "apples." For Momo, a pastry chef who specializes in making sweets, apples are the perfect ingredient, putting Megumi in an even more unfavorable position.

There's even a scene at the end where she seems to acknowledge Megumi's abilities.

Momo calls her by her real name, without a nickname

Although the battle seemed overwhelmingly unfavorable, Momo's intensive training with Shinomiya paid off, and in the end, she demonstrated her skills by narrowly beating Momo in the sweets contest, beating her to a 1-2 lead. Momo's habit of calling inferiors by their names and giving them cute nicknames is characteristic of her, but after this Shokugeki, perhaps acknowledging Megumi's abilities, she changes from calling her "Megu-chan" to calling her by her real name, "Tadokoro Megumi."

Takumi vs. Eizan

Takumi and Eizan glaring at each other

Following the second bout against Kuga, this is another fateful match between Takumi and Eizan. Eizan uses his usual dirty tricks to try and ruin Takumi's dish. However, this time, Takumi is a little different from before, thoroughly observing Eizan and predicting his actions. Eizan tries to sabotage Takumi with artichokes, but Takumi sees through it and uses Eizan's dish as an opening act.

Soma vs. Saito

Two warriors fighting like warriors

It's no exaggeration to say that the Soma vs. Saito match was the final bout of the third bout. While Saito had easily advanced to the second bout, thanks to the theme of tuna, the theme ingredient for the third bout was "butter." Despite being an ingredient not typically associated with sushi chefs, Soma's menu included a "seafood butter bowl." Meanwhile, Soma prepared a highly ingenious "inari sushi." Who will emerge victorious in this battle?

The Force Battle will be against the first, second, and third place members of the Elites!

Erina serves Momo a dish

The Solidarity Shokugeki is nearing its final stages. Only four members of the Rebel Alliance remain, and three from the Elites. If the Rebel Alliance wins this battle, it will be a decisive showdown. However, since our main character, Soma, isn't even in the Force Bout, I'm sure you can guess the outcome (lol). Let's take a look at the Force Bout pairings.

Erina VS Momo

Erina VS Momo

First up is Momo's first appearance in a Rentai Shokugeki, Erina Nakiri vs. Third Bout, where she fully demonstrates her pastry chef skills! The theme ingredient for this Fourth Bout is "brown sugar," an ingredient favored for baking. Naturally, Momo will be making sweets. Erina responds with her own sweets. Taking on Momo's giant castle-shaped dessert, Erina takes on the challenge head-on with a dessert adapted from the dorayaki she made in the Third Bout.

Isshiki vs. Tsukasa

Isshiki fighting Tsukasa

The theme of the showdown between Isshiki and Tsukasa is "wild rabbit." While this ingredient is somewhat difficult for Isshiki, who specializes in Japanese cuisine, it's Tsukasa's specialty, making it his battlefield. (Tsukasa even uses wild venison as a specialty.) Isshiki uses wild rabbit in his Japanese soup to create a "specialty Isshiki soup," but Tsukasa overwhelms Isshiki with a classic French game dish.

How did it all end up like this... Isshiki in just a loincloth?

Isshiki in a loincloth

Before the Solidarity Shokugeki, Tsukasa had such high regard for Isshiki's abilities that he even asked Isshiki if he could join him if he won. But Isshiki said no. Although he lost to Tsukasa in the Solidarity Shokugeki, he remained a member of the Rebel Alliance until the very end. However, contrary to his cool words, he was standing there in just a loincloth... This all has to do with Itsumi, but you'll have to watch the anime to find out how it all ended up like this.

Takumi vs. Rindou

Rindou in Battle Ready

The other battle is Takumi vs. Rindou. Rindou's battery was depleted after fighting Megijima in the second bout, but he returns in full force for the force bout. While Takumi is also an excellent chef, Rindou is still one step ahead. He overwhelms Takumi throughout the force bout and advances. However, seeing Rindou like that, Takumi makes a cryptic statement, saying, "You seem scared of something." What exactly is Rindou scared of...?

The final battle is finally here! These four will be the last to stand!

The four take on the final bout

The solidarity Shokugeki has finally reached its climax! The final showdown will not only showcase individual skills, but also a course meal competition in which pairs will create an appetizer and main course. Of course, these four have emerged victorious! The final battle for the future of Totsuki Academy begins.

Your opponents are the strongest at Totsuki Academy! Tsukasa & Ryujin!

Tsukasa & Rindou Pair

Tsukasa and Rindou advanced from the Top Ten. As expected, the first and second-placed members of the Top Ten appeared in the finals. The two have been friends since middle school. They know each other well and their teamwork is perfect. In the final bout, Rindou served as the appetizer, while Tsukasa served as the main course. While Rindou has a strong, wild image, he delivered a solid appetizer with his "mushroom mille-feuille," leading into Tsukasa's venison specialty.

The opposing Rebel Alliance is Soma & Erina!

Soma competes with Erina

Compared to the amazing teamwork of Tsukasa and Ryujin, Soma and Erina are far from perfect pals. They argued until the very end about who would make the main course (lol). In the end, Soma was chosen to make the appetizer, but what he created was so hearty it could hardly be called an appetizer. It was criticized as the worst appetizer for a full course, but it was also meant to symbolize a "Shokugeki against Erina." Erina responded to this insane appetizer with a specialty dish incorporating a dish Soma had previously made.

Summary of Season 4 of the Anime

Season 4 Title

So far, we've introduced the fourth season of Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma: Shin no Sara. I imagine that if the story follows the original story, the fourth season will be a series of joint Shokugeki battles. Will the Rebel Alliance or the Elites emerge victorious? It'll be a riveting experience until the very end.
