The third season of the anime is scheduled to air in 2023, and expectations are high. The third season will cover the "Age of Discovery Arc" from the original manga. The Age of Discovery Arc features Nanami Ryusui, the protagonist of "Dr. Stone Ryusui." In this article, we'll be sharing a synopsis of the Age of Discovery Arc, including spoilers! We've also provided synopses of the first and second seasons in separate articles, so we recommend reading those first!
Synopsis 1: The Resurrection of Nanami Ryusui
Tsukasa is seriously injured due to the betrayal of his supposed comrade, Hyotsuki. To save Tsukasa, Senku creates a refrigerator for cold sleep. Senku also declares that he will build a ship to cross the ocean. While building the ship, he also needs a captain. After gathering information on the captain, he decides to revive Nanami Ryusui. Oil is needed to power the ship, so Senku and his friends search for an oil field in present-day Shizuoka Prefecture. However, past natural disasters have changed the terrain, so they decide to build a balloon to create a new map. They somehow manage to complete the balloon and secure the funds. They try to make bread to procure preserved food, but are unsuccessful. They only manage to get the bread by reviving François, Ryusui's butler and chef. Afterwards, using aerial photographs taken with a camera and captured prey as clues, they finally discover the oil field.
Synopsis 2: The science vessel Peselhaus is completed!
After successfully discovering oil, Senku and his friends build a motorboat and a GPS to track their location. However, while using the GPS, they receive a mysterious transmission, revealing the presence of someone other than Senku and his friends. To combat the mysterious entity known as "Whyman," Senku builds a radar. Chrome realizes that the radar can be used as a ground-penetrating radar, discovers a vein of iron ore, and successfully secures the iron. However, building the ship did not go well, so Ryusui came up with the idea of making a model-sized ship and then enlarging it. Ryusui's idea was successful, and the science ship Perseus was finally completed. The group's destination on the ship was the island where Senku's father, Byakuya, had made an emergency landing. Based on a story left behind as folklore by Byakuya, Senku deduces that Byakuya and his friends may have left behind a rare mineral for the resurrected human race. If they could obtain platinum, it might be possible to infinitely increase the production of the resurrection fluid used to revive people from petrification. Upon hearing this, a villager reveals that he is originally from that island, and that his name is "Soyuz," the same as the spaceship. Having obtained this valuable information, Senku and his friends decide to land on the island as a reconnaissance team.
Synopsis 3: Meeting Amaryllis
Senku, Gen, Kohaku, and Soyus land on the island as a scouting team. Later, when the scouts stop responding to radio calls, Gen and Soyus become suspicious and return to the ship, only to find that everyone on the ship has been petrified. Soyus recalls that there is something petrifying the island and a counter-force fighting against it. The group meets a young girl named Amaryllis, a resident of the island. According to Amaryllis, the island is ruled by a tyrant known as the "Head," who controls people with bombs capable of petrifying. Amaryllis invites Senku and his friends to join her in her mission to steal the bomb, and Kohaku decides to infiltrate with them. After successfully infiltrating with an intercom built using the principles of a crystal radio, Senku begins building a drone to use to steal the petrification bomb.
Synopsis 4: Drone Construction and Disaster
Kohaku discovers the Soyuz spaceship and safely delivers the preserved items to Senku using a silent bomb. After obtaining platinum, Senku first revives Ryusui, who is knowledgeable about tidal currents, in order to search for the fossil statues submerged in the ocean. The stone statues of their comrades are safely found, and construction of the drone is progressing smoothly, but Kohaku's true identity is discovered by Mozu, a close aide to the leader. Having learned important information that the island's real power lies with the prime minister, Ibara, Kohaku is severely injured by Ibara. Kohaku deliberately turns himself to stone to save the petrified Silver Wolf. Amaryllis returns to convey the emergency, but is tracked by Mozu and her hideout is discovered. Senku, however, deduces that Mozu is actually trying to kill Ibara, and that the petrification weapon is in the possession of another aide named Kirisame. Gen negotiates, and a temporary alliance is formed with Mozu, who shares a common enemy. While Mozu is fighting, Senku and his friends build a pistol to use when confronting Mozu. The drone is finally completed, and they are about to enter the final battle.
Synopsis 5: The Final Battle with Ibara
In the final battle, Senku and his friends throw a petrification device at Kirisame to counter the attack. However, Ibara, who had his eye on the intercom Kohaku was using, eavesdrops on their plan. He then discovers that Ibara is plotting to steal the science ship Perseus and petrify the entire island. Senku and his friends discover Ibara's plot and split into two teams: one to capture the statue head, and one to stall for time. Cornered, Senku uses a desperate measure to revive the petrified Hyotsuki and succeeds in making Hyotsuki an ally. Afterwards, Ibara's evil deeds are exposed, and he has a warrior named Ooarashi swallow a petrification device and run to the center of the island. Senku and his friends desperately try to stop him, but the petrification device is activated. It seems Ibara has won completely, but Senku survives and enters the battle once again. The moment Ibara throws the petrification device, a revived Ryusui catches it with a drone. Ryusui crashes into the activated petrification device, attaches an intercom to it, and delivers it to Ibara. At that moment, Senku remotely activates the petrification device, turning Ibara to stone and finally achieving victory for Senku and his friends.
Age of Discovery Arc Summary
Nanami Ryusui plays a key role in the Age of Discovery Arc. Without him, the ship would never have been built, the crew would never have been resurrected, and they would never have been able to defeat Ibara. I can't wait to see his exploits in the anime. And ahead of the Age of Discovery Arc, I'm looking forward to seeing Ryusui's exploits in the special "Dr. Stone Ryusui" airing this summer! That's all for today. Thank you for reading.
