The protagonist of Darling in the Franxx. His real name is (FP40-T3NL-016). Adults call him (Code:016). Due to an incident in his childhood, he lost his parasite abilities and is a failure, unable to pilot a Franxx. He is a hard worker who never misses a day of training and never stops working, dreaming of the day he will be able to fight alongside his comrades. But then he meets Zero Two, whose encounter with him changes the boy's fate. She is also his godfather, having given nicknames to other children in their childhood.
Ichigo (Code: 015)
A young girl who is the leader of the 13th City Unit. She has a strong sense of responsibility, gives precise instructions, and is a highly capable leader. However, when it comes to her childhood friend Hiro, she loses sight of her surroundings and is unable to make calm decisions. She is always concerned about Hiro, who can no longer pilot a Franxx, and secretly harbors feelings for him. She seems to dislike Zero Two for putting Hiro in danger. Goro (Code: 056)
An excellent student with excellent Franxx piloting skills, good judgment, observational skills, and consideration for others. Miku (Code: 390)
A very cheerful and adorable girl, she is honest about her feelings. Her occasional selfishness and competitive nature often lead to fights with Zorome. She pilots a Franxx as Zorome's Pistil and fights against the Klaxosaurs. You might think they're the worst pair, but they excel in battle and have repelled many Klaxosaurs. In fact, they're probably the most stable pair in the 13th City Squad.
Mitsuru (Code: 326)
His real name is (FP40-T3NL-326). He is a calm, collected, and outspoken boy. He pilots a Franxx as Ikuno's stamen. As a child, he had a bright personality and admired Hiro. He had promised and dreamed of fighting alongside Hiro in Franxx, but an incident that happened to Hiro caused him to forget his promise to Mitsuru. As a child, he was very sickly and had low abilities as a parasite, but an experiment dramatically improved his abilities. This was also when his personality changed.
Kokoro (Code: 556)
A girl with a very gentle and demure personality. Men worship her as a Madonna-like figure. She loves tending to flowers and is often found in the garden. She piloted a Franxx as Futoshi's pistil, but volunteered to be the partner of the troubled Mitsuru. He's shy and doesn't like expressing his feelings, but he's very curious and sometimes takes reckless actions, like walking alone through a dangerous abandoned village.
Futoshi (Code: 214)
He's always eating and is overweight, but he's very friendly and can get along with anyone. He pilots the Franxx as Kokoro's stamen. He is very laid back and has a good deal of common sense, but is mentally very weak. However, he cares deeply for Kokoro, and when it comes to her, he sometimes acts contrary to his own personality. A boy with a strong core.
Ikuno (Code: 196)
He is very calm and rarely shows any emotion, even when facing his comrades in the 13th City Squad. He piloted the Franxx as Mitsuru's pistil, but due to poor compatibility with Mitsuru and the Franxx's activation becoming unstable, he switched partners with Futoshi. He secretly has feelings for Ichigo.
Characters of the Elite Parasite Unit "9's"
The characters of the elite parasite unit "9's" possess high levels of skill, sense, and ability. They are also believed to hold the key to the story. Let's introduce them.
Zero Two (Code: 002)
The main heroine of Darling in the Franxx. She is nicknamed 9'sι (Nine's Iota) by her fellow parasites. Innocent and unconventional, she hates being bound by rules. He is thought to have inherited the blood of a Klaxosaur, and although he has a human appearance, he has horns on his head and his blood is blue. His abilities as a parasite are top class and his combat ability is exceptionally high, but every time he fights, his partner Stamen ages, causing them to die after three battles. 9'α (Nine Alpha)
The leader of the 9's. A beautiful young boy with blonde hair and a constant smile. He is interested in Ichigo and approaches her more than necessary. He calls Zero Two a "monster in human skin." The Adults of Darling in the Franxx
These masterminds likely hold many secrets. They are the creators of the children (the parasites) and have taught them that fighting the Klaxosaurs is an honor. However, the adults see the parasites as disposable tools, merely using them to further their own ambitions.
Nana
A woman who serves as the parasite administrator and caretaker of the 13 City Unit. She has a serious personality and can be strict with the children (parasites). She is often sexually harassed by the doctor, who often touches her buttocks.
Hachi
He is the commander of the city defense operation and the caretaker of the children (parasites). He has a shaved head and gives off a very serious impression. He never shows his emotions.
Dr. Franxx
The creator of the Franxx, developed to fight the Klaxosaurs. He has mechanized parts of his body and a very scientific appearance, leading the adults (the Seven Sages) to call him "Berger." He conducted inhumane biological experiments on a young Zero Two. He treats the 13th City Unit's parasites as special subjects and monitors them as test subjects. He's a perverted old man who often teases Nana by touching her butt.
The Seven Sages
The parasites (children) call him "adults" and "dad." Wearing a mask and white formal attire, their true identities are a mystery, but their voices suggest they are of various ages and genders. They also have a ruthless side, such as when they issue orders to the parasites to self-destruct. They are the mastermind who holds the keys to all the mysteries.
