The first episode of the anime Cop Craft has been released. The setting is a fictional town called Santa Teresa. I started watching without knowing the original story, but it's a cool production. I thought it might be a slightly sad story, starting with the murder of a partner, but I was captivated. It's a show I'll likely continue watching.
Anime Episode 1 - Setting
The story is set in Santa Teresa, a city on Kariaena Island. 15 years ago, a "Mirage Gate" suddenly appeared. The inhabitants beyond the gate, known as Mildy, and Earthlings seem to coexist in the city of San Teresa. The Earthlings also refer to them as aliens and seem to discriminate against them. The other world beyond the gate is Leto Semani. There seem to be many different countries, but the knight who arrived this time, Tirana Exedilica, comes from the Kingdom of Falbani in Leto Semani and appears to be of fairly high social status.
Anime Episode 1 - Brief Synopsis
The protagonist, Kei Matoba, and his partner, Rick, arrest a man illegally trading fairies, a drug manufacturer. However, someone takes control of the victim's body and kills Rick. Later, on orders from his superior, he becomes a partner with Tirana Excedilica, who has broken a fairy and arrived from the Farbani Kingdom of Leto Semaani. Matoba reluctantly becomes his partner. Following the fairy's footsteps, he ended up at the Mexican mafia.
Anime Episode 1: That War
Matoba, a former soldier, talks to a character who appears to be the captain when he goes to the Mirage Gate to greet Tirana. The captain then remarks, "That war?" Since the character also passes through the Mirage Gate in a similar scene, perhaps a war with the otherworldly people broke out after the Mirage Gate appeared?
Anime Episode 1: Portrayal of Uwai
After Rick's murder, Matoba contacts Rick's wife to tell her the truth. Rick's wife breaks down in tears. He hangs up the phone without saying a word. His words, which correspond to the previous scene and involve him asking how he can convey this to Rick's wife, express his grief very well. This work features other worlds and supernatural powers, but the scene where he arrives home and is wearing a mask while keeping a cat (probably because he's allergic to cats) carefully portrays his kindness and humanity. This work has a really interesting atmosphere. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
