"BURN THE WITCH," a new work by Tite Kubo, the famous author of BLEACH, was published in both a one-shot and a short-running serialized version, both of which were highly popular. Starting at the end of 2023, an anime adaptation of the one-shot version, "BURN THE WITCH #0.8," will be available on streaming services like Prime Video. Due to the acclaim for the original manga, the anime adaptation is already garnering attention. This time, we'll introduce the production staff and voice cast of this highly anticipated series! You might even see some familiar faces!
Introduction: Story Summary
The story is set in London, where 72% of deaths in London are related to beings known as dragons. Only residents of "Reverse London," the other side of London, can see the dragon. Even among them, only a select few can directly interact with it. Everyone else is unaware of its existence. The protagonists, Ninny Spangcole and Noel Niihashi, are chosen to become "witches" and are tasked with protecting and managing the dragon.
Tatsuro Kawano (Director)
Director Tatsuro Kawano won the Grand Prize at the Animator Awards while still a university student, making his mark as an animator even as a student. He specializes in intense action scenes that utilize the characteristics of digital animation, and served as director of "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress." When creating an anime, I place great importance on the sense of flight and floating. This work features many action scenes, so I think you can see Kawano's attention to detail and ingenuity in the story.
Taku Kishimoto (Screenplay)
Screenwriter Taku Kishimoto was previously employed by Studio Ghibli and worked on Ghibli films. He also appeared as a voice actor in "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea." After leaving Studio Ghibli, he became a freelance screenwriter. He has written scripts for well-known works such as "Usagi Drop" and "Ranking of Kings," and he also wrote the screenplay for the Monster Strike movie.
Tano Asami (Ninny Spangcole)
Before becoming a voice actress, Tano Asami was active in a vocal and dance group. She began her voice acting career around 2011, garnering attention for her role as Kazuno Seira, the older sister of the sister group "Saint Snow," rivals of the main characters, in "Love Live! Sunshine." In the Pretty Cure series, she plays Cure Sunny, a character she is deeply attached to, stating that "this became the roots of my career as a voice actress."
Yuma Yamada (Noeru Shinbashi)
Yuma Yamada is originally from Fukui Prefecture. When she first became a voice actress, she struggled with the difference between her Fukui dialect and standard Japanese accent. However, her competitive nature allowed her to overcome this by checking the shape of her mouth in the mirror and having friends point it out to her. In addition to anime, she has also voiced numerous foreign dramas and films, so we're looking forward to seeing her in those roles!
Kamiba Tsuchiya (Balco Barks)
Kamiba Tsuchiya worked as a child actor before becoming a voice actor. His given name, "Shinba," is pronounced "Shinba," and is taken from Simba, the main character in The Lion King. Mamoru Miyano was the inspiration for me to pursue a career as a voice actor, and meeting him led me to join the Himawari Theater Company. His older sister, actress Tao Tsuchiya, co-starred with him in the dubbing of the film "Bumblebee" and even appeared with him at the stage greeting.
