BEASTERS depicts a world where carnivores and herbivores are anthropomorphized. It depicts the carnivores' instinct to eat meat and the conflict they face when living alongside herbivores. Set in a boarding school, their world is incredibly complex, yet also contains themes that evoke adolescence. This time, we'll introduce Rui the Red Deer, a character who stands out among the rest.
What kind of character is Rui the Red Deer?
Rui, a male red deer, is the captain of the drama club and is aiming to become the BEASTER that rules the school. He is extremely popular due to his handsome features and leadership skills, but sometimes his facial expressions suddenly become more appropriate for his age. He is a proud herbivore, and is also characterized by his boldness, rivaling that of carnivores. He has a strong sense of responsibility and is the captain and star of the drama club.
Louis's Background
Louis is proud of his red deer heritage, and as a young male, he feels a sense of duty to father children with his kind. However, he was originally a black market bait. The number 4 from that time is carved into the bottom of his foot. It was Louis's father who bought him. Though his father doesn't show his emotions, it seems he truly loves Louis.
Louis and the Welcome Performance
Day 1
The drama club decided to perform Adler for the welcome performance. The lead role was, of course, played by Louis. However, during practice, Louis injured his foot. He desperately tried to hide it so that the others wouldn't notice. They successfully completed the first day's performance. However, as the curtain fell, Louis collapsed. Due to a stress fracture in his left leg, it seems unlikely he will be able to perform tomorrow. Therefore, it was decided that Bill, who was perfectly suited to the role, would take his place, and that Legoshi would take his place.
Day 2
Bill, now the lead actor, tries to buy some fresh rabbit blood from a senior and drink it before the performance. Legoshi, finding out, becomes enraged and a serious fight breaks out onstage. The audience is captivated by the battle between the wolf and the tiger. Just when it seems the situation will be resolved, Louis appears. The play concludes without incident. After the performance ends, Louis confronts the two as they go to apologize to Louis. However, the fans rush over, saying that the earlier performance was staged and that it was a wonderful performance. Upon learning this, Louis and the two agree to lie and say it was all staged.
Louis and Haru
It's time for a deer's antlers to grow back. A rabbit sees the deer's antler fall off. That rabbit is Haru. Louis demands that Haru keep quiet, but Haru doesn't seem to care and begins treating the antler. This leads to a relationship between the two. However, Louis believes that he will have to marry a member of his own race in the future and have children, and Haru, despite knowing this, continues to have feelings for Louis. Their relationship continues as if they're licking each other's wounds.
Louis and the Shishi Group
Haru's Kidnapping
The day before the Meteorite Festival, Haru is kidnapped by the Shishi Group. Naturally, they're using her for food. Upon learning this, Legoshi immediately turns to Louis for advice. However, Louis is under pressure from the school principal and unable to move. Unaware of this, Legoshi heads alone to the black market to rescue Haru. As Legoshi successfully defeats the boss and prepares to leave, the Shishi-gumi boss attempts to shoot him from the second floor. Louis appears and shoots the boss, saving Legoshi. Legoshi, however, is unaware of this.
Becoming the Boss of the Shishi-gumi
After killing the boss, Louis' subordinates arrive. Louis prepares himself for death, but the conversation takes an unexpected turn. They propose making him the boss of the Shishi-gumi. The two split up, but decide to come to a conclusion over a meal. The dish that arrives is meat. Being a herbivore, Louis senses everything and, by eating the meat, becomes the boss of the Shishi-gumi. As a good boss of the Shishi-gumi, which had previously been merely a violent group, he expands his influence in the black market.
Louis and the Murder of Tim
Louis had been secretly offering prayers for Tim, even placing bouquets of flowers at the crime scene. One day, while he was still the boss of the Shishi-gumi, Legoshi came to visit him. He asked him to be present at the duel with Liz, the culprit who ate Tim. Legoshi heard this and, after many twists and turns, eventually left the Shishi-gumi and joined Legoshi. Legoshi was at a disadvantage in his fight against Liz. Seeing Legoshi's condition, Louis offered him his right leg. Legoshi follows his orders, leading to an unprecedented incident: he forces his best friend to eat his right leg.
Louis (Final Words)
At this point, Louis is close to being a BEASTER. However, given the title "BEASTERS," it seems likely that both Legoshi and Louis will become BEASTERs themselves. In any case, the story is going to be fascinating!
