Assassin's Pride is set to be adapted into an anime in the fall of 2019. It's based on a light novel. The story begins with the protagonist, Kufa Vampire, an assassin in the White Night Cavalry, becoming a tutor for Merida Angel. The anime is based on the 2016 novel Assassin's Pride: The Assassin Teacher and the Incompetent Genius.

Who is Kufa Vampire?

Who is Kufa?

He's a 17-year-old assassin in the White Night Cavalry. Originally from the Night Realm, he drifted to Flandre with his mother. After his mother's death, he was taken in by the White Night Knights. His class is samurai. While his combat abilities are not fully documented, he is often depicted as a genius, so we can assume he is quite strong. He often lies about his achievements in this award, and Merida's maids sometimes call him a cruel teacher.

How Kufa Vampire Became Merida's Tutor

Merida Angel is the daughter of the Angel Knight Duke family, and inherits the rank of Holy Knight. She is 13 years old. However, even at this age, her mana has not yet been activated, raising suspicions that she may be the child of her mother's adultery. Unable to activate her mana, she is the main heroine of this work, a talentless girl. Kufa is asked to be her tutor in order to activate this talentless girl's mana. The reason he chose Kufa is because there was a hidden request: if her mana does not activate, he will assassinate her. Thus, Kufa, the assassin, becomes Merida's tutor and helps her express her mana.

Kufa Vampire Manifests Merida's Mana

Mana Transplant

Kufa, who has become Merida's tutor, begins preparations for her assassination, knowing that the chances of her activating her Mana are extremely slim. However, when she is attacked by a Lancanthrope sent by the Duke of Angel Knights, Kufa sees Merida desperately clinging on without calling for help. He decides to use a trick to activate her Mana. His method involves transplanting the Mana of one of his samurai into Merida. The success rate is 70%. While lying, Kufa tells her there's a dangerous way to manifest Mana. Though it was dangerous, Merida was adamant, and through this method, she was endowed with Kufa's samurai mana. The two shared a kiss before the transplant.

Kufa Vampire's Rebellion

Muhan

Kufa implanted his mana into Merida, forcing him to deceive his employers. This action puts Merida and Kufa in peril. The original request was to manifest Paladin mana in Merida, the daughter of the Angel Knight Duke family. However, by transplanting his own Samurai into the Mana, suspicions of Merida's mother's infidelity could not be erased. Therefore, Kufa instructed Merida to activate Mana only in his presence for the time being.

Merida's Rescue by Kufa Vampire

One day, Merida was kidnapped along with Elise Angel by William Jin. His goal was to use the two to change Merida's class from Samurai to Paladin. However, this method had an extremely low success rate, and even if it did succeed, it would leave serious after-effects on the body. William Jin was an artificial Rankanthrop. The client kidnaps the two, hoping to change Merida's samurai class to paladin, as revealed in the previous battle. However, Merida counterattacks unexpectedly, leaving them in a difficult position. Kufa Vampire and Elise's tutor, Rosetti Pricket, come to their aid. The battle and this story move toward its final stage.

Kufa Vampire's true identity is finally revealed

Kufa's true identity

In his battle with William Jin, Kufa loses his right arm. However, he then begins to overwhelm him. Apparently, his stats have exceeded their limits. Don't expect too much explanation here. Then, suddenly, Kufa's right arm regenerates. This brings us to a shocking truth: Kufa is also a half-blooded Rankanthrope, a top-ranking vampire. William Jin prepares himself for death, but Kufa decides to spare him. He then forces his superiors to make false reports to prevent further threats to his and Merida's lives. And so, this chapter comes to an end.

In Conclusion

This story was very short, but well worth the read, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the anime adaption will unfold. There are many other novel chapters in addition to this one, so if you're interested in the series, I encourage you to pick up the other chapters.
