Gurren Lagann is full of passionate and cool scenes, but the farewell scene is particularly memorable. As we follow the story of Gurren Lagann, we will consider how the characters parted ways.
Kamina's Farewell to His Father
One of Kamina's goals for coming to the surface was to meet his father. However, his wish was in vain, as his father had already passed away. Kamina is saddened that he was unable to reunite with his father, and is made painfully aware of the harshness of life on Earth. However, this experience strengthens his resolve to create a world where people can live in peace on Earth. Kamina's separation from his father has made him stronger.
Rossiu Parts Ways with His Friends
Rossiu has lived with the villagers, supporting each other despite their poverty. However, just as the new life is born, Rossiu feels uncomfortable with the village's system of sacrificing the person who draws the lottery to increase their livelihood, and decides to leave the village. It takes courage to leave a familiar place and be separated from the people who are like family. Rossiu grows from taking this step, and as Simon's right-hand man, he helps them live peacefully on Earth.
A Sudden Farewell to Kamina
For fans of the anime, this was probably the most shocking scene. Kamina, the main character and arguably the protagonist, burns up completely and dies in the middle of the battle. It was a cruel fate with no miracle or help coming, but it was a fitting end for him to continue screaming until his very last breath. Also, by the opening of the next episode, Kamina has completely disappeared, which once again made us realize that he was no longer there, and brought tears to our eyes.
A Promise and Farewell to Nia
Nia and Simon became lovers and fought together to protect peace on Earth. However, because she was on the side of the Anti-Spiral, an enemy of humanity, she would cease to exist if the Anti-Spiral were to disappear. In their final moments, Simon and Nia held their wedding ceremony and vowed eternal love to each other. It was impressive to see Simon bravely go ahead with the wedding even though he knew his time with Nia was approaching. Even though he was filled with the greatest happiness, it was a very cruel ending when he thought of Nia no longer being able to spend time with her loved one. Even after Nia's death, Simon set off on his journey with memories of her in his heart.
Summary
While partings are generally painful, they also serve as an opportunity for character growth. In particular, in Gurren Lagann, many of the main characters die throughout the story, but the characters, who fought for a common goal, were bound together by a bond that transcends death.
