The anime "After School Fishing Diary" will begin airing in spring 2020. This time, we'll be looking at the fishing club's captain, Yuki Kuroiwa.
We'll also be introducing the club's main activities.
Who is Yuki Kuroiwa?
Captain of the Umino High School Fishing Club. A third-year high school student.
Source: After School Fishing Diary
He has a carefree personality and an old-man-like disposition, wanting to take off his socks as soon as he arrives at the clubroom.
He has extensive knowledge about fishing and fish, and decides the daily activities of the Teibou Club.
He sometimes gently and sometimes sternly (?) instructs the beginner Hina.
He also has a distinctive animal ear that stands up when he comes up with an idea (or perhaps a wicked scheme?) to train Hina.
Why did Kuroiwa make Hina join the Teibou Club?
Here, we will consider why Kuroiwa made Hina join the Teibou Club.
While fishing on the embankment, Kuroiwa meets Hina, who is out for a walk.
Hina quickly untangles his tangled octopus line, and Kuroiwa must have sensed "something" about her.
When an octopus gets stuck around Hina's leg, Kuroiwa takes advantage of the confusion to get her to fill out a membership form while she is half-crazed.
Perhaps Kuroiwa himself is also sensing something about the "crisis that threatens the survival of the fishing club."
What are the fishing club's activities?
What kind of activities does the Fishing Club do? You're probably curious!
We've done some research.
1. The clubroom is near the embankment.
The Fishing Club's clubroom is located in a corner of the embankment, lined with fishermen's huts.
It's far from school, a long bike ride away.
However, it's a great location for easy fishing and a relaxing time on sunny days.
2. Activities are conducted in uniform or tracksuit.
Since it's a club activity, the Fishing Club has a rule that they must wear their uniforms or jerseys when fishing.
As you can see from the image above, Hina looks extremely reluctant at first.
3. After catching a fish, cook and eat it
Under the motto "Fishing is taking the life of a living creature," all caught fish are cooked and eaten.
Oono, a second-year student who excels at cooking, usually does the cooking.
4. Fully clothed swimming lesson
Fishing is always a risk of drowning.
Before summer arrives, the Fishing Club holds fully clothed swimming lessons.
For once, even Teacher Sayaka is on her toes.
5. The sofa in the club room
There's a large sofa in the middle of the clubroom.
It's mainly used by the club president, Kuroiwa, when he's lazing around.
Who brought it in remains a mystery.
6. General-Purpose Handcart "Kaiwomaru"
The fishing club's most valuable piece of equipment is the hand-cart "Kaiwomaru."
A graduated senior inherited it from a fisherman and modified it for fishing.
Without it, they wouldn't be able to transport the fish they caught...
It's an important piece of equipment.
Summary
Following on from Hina, I've also been thinking about the club's captain, Kuroiwa.
At first, I had the impression that he was "hard to understand and difficult to understand," forcing Hina into joining the club, but as I read more, I began to think that Kuroiwa really cares about the fishing club in his own way.
"After School Fishing Diary" is quite interesting! I think the quality of the work is better conveyed in the anime.
