Senku Ishigami is the protagonist and subject of Dr. Stone, a scientific genius whose work is based on the same name. His genius makes him difficult for ordinary people to understand, and he has a very dry and straightforward personality. However, he uses science to tackle the enormous challenge of saving all of humanity from the Stone World. Today, we'd like to introduce you to this character!
Senku was already interested in science as a first-grader.
Before the world became a Stone World, Senku declared that he wanted to go to space as a first-grader. His expression doesn't express the casual, "I want to be an astronaut" sentiment that kids often express; it shows he's thinking about it quite seriously, even for a first-grader. Perhaps Senku was already a genius at this time.
He became obsessed with science, dragging Taiju along with him.
As a first-grader, Senku discovered the fascination of "science"—thinking and creating things on his own—and became increasingly obsessed. By this time, he was already donning a lab coat and conducting serious experiments. And Taiju was right next to him. The two must have been in perfect sync from this point on. It's no wonder Senku was the first to try to revive Taiju in the Stone World.
When Senku was first revived, even the monkeys looked at him strangely.
When Senku was first revived, he was, of course, completely naked, having lost all his clothes. The monkeys watching from the trees looked at him strangely, as if it was their first time seeing a human, and exclaimed, "He's shiny and smooth!!" However, perhaps fueled by their competitive spirit, Senku quickly used the power of science to build a more human-like life... but I wonder why the monkeys thought he was a "shiny and smooth monkey" (lol).
Senku Ishigami is 16 years old. I'm getting married!
In modern society, men can only get married at the age of 18, but Senku got married at the young age of 16. ...Although, technically, he was petrified for about 3,700 years, so that's about 3,700 years and 16 years, so maybe it's not a problem... However, as you can see from his expression, he doesn't seem interested in romance at all. This time, too, his marriage was to obtain sake and vinegar.
Senku's Quick Marriage, followed by a Super-Quick Divorce
Senku marries the village shrine maiden, Ruri, and acquires Ishigami Village. However, after obtaining the sake and vinegar, he is satisfied, having fulfilled his business. Upon hearing that the wedding celebration will continue until the morning, he quickly declares his divorce. He then leaves for the laboratory with the sake and vinegar. However, he still counts this as a proper marriage, and later states that he is divorced.
Senku's father. Who is Ishigami Byakuya?
Byakuya somewhat resembles Senku and seems to have the makings of a genius. However, he doesn't actually possess the same talent as Senku, and instead became an astronaut through hard work and determination. While Senku and Byakuya aren't blood relatives, they seem to have a good understanding of each other's personalities and get along well. He also demonstrates great initiative, such as taking a risky trip to rescue his friends.
Byakuya and his companions were the last surviving members of humanity
Byakuya departed for space three days before the entire human race was turned to stone. Six astronauts, including Byakuya, witnessed the strange phenomenon on Earth from space and decided to return to Earth. There, they witnessed a world where everything had turned to stone. Byakuya and his companions built a village there, raising descendants and naming it Ishigami Village. This raises the possibility that Senku is a distant ancestor of Kohaku and his companions.
Was he even prepared to be killed? Senku Returns from the Dead
Senku's nervous system was destroyed by Shishio Tsukasa, and it was thought he died instantly. Taiju, using his wits, managed to grab Senku and escape from Tsukasa. However, Senku showed no reaction when he called out to him... At that moment, Taiju remembered Senku's unnatural behavior. "He didn't usually behave like that." This small hint, only possible because of their long friendship, allowed Taiju to notice Senku's petrification and successfully revive him.
An extremely rare scene. The Moment Senku Cries
Senku is usually a cool-headed man who always outwits his opponents, but there's one scene where he bursts into tears when he first sees his father's grave. His fathers died of pneumonia. However, there's a sense of fate in the fact that Senku and his friends created sulfa drugs in the present-day Stone World and saved Ruri from pneumonia. Perhaps he was thinking that if he had been there at the same time, he could have saved her...
Senkuu is basically a despicable character
Senku has many good points, but because he prioritizes achieving his goals, he is basically a despicable character. This is the scene where Gen casts a spell on Magma that will make his heart explode if he moves, but Gen takes advantage of Magma's bluff and starts to provoke him even more to make him even more anxious. His words, of course, but his facial expression is the height of despicableness! (lol)
If it's to achieve his goal, he'll have to reach the same level as Ginrou...
To save Ruri from illness, Senku and his allies join forces in many battles, using strategies such as whittling down Magma's stamina and intentionally giving up during their battle with Kinrou to conserve his strength. While this strategy certainly makes sense...the problem is this expression and line! His facial expression was particularly awful, to the point that even his ally Kinrou declared, "I don't think he's being righteous at all." (lol)
Senku Trusts Kaseki's Grandpa's Skills
Senku recruits many talented people from Ishigami Village to join the Kingdom of Science, but the one he seems to trust the most is the eldest, Kaseki. Senku acknowledges that Kaseki is the best when it comes to craftsmanship, and when he divorced, Senku forced Kaseki to join him, entrusting him with tasks like vacuum tube manufacturing, showing how much he trusts him as a blacksmith.
Summary of the Protagonist, Ishigami Senku
What did you think of this introduction to the protagonist, Senku? From his scientific wisdom to his unique hairstyle (lol), he's a cool character with all the main character qualities. However, it seems the original work hasn't yet fully revealed Senku, so we can look forward to future developments.
