Joseph Joestar is the protagonist of Part 2 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, "Battle Tendency," and the grandson of Jonathan Joestar, the protagonist of Part 1. He appears in parts 2 through 4 of the story, making him one of the most frequently appearing characters. Ever since his youth, he has been a joker and enjoys fooling around and telling jokes, and is often seen teasing his friends. However, he is a shrewd warrior in battle, and is skilled in psychological warfare, making use of Sun Tzu's Art of War. While a Ripple user, he also possesses a Stand ability, called "Hermit Purple." Hermit Purple has the appearance of a vine-like plant, and can use electrical appliances to see through things and tie up opponents.

First, the first Joseph Joestar quote I'd like to introduce is, "Your next line is..." This line is a common phrase often used by Joseph Joestar in battle scenes, and is also a provocative move in which he reads into his opponent's mental state and says what they want to say first. Because he is usually playful, the contrast with his intelligent side in battle looks cool. This line has later been uttered by characters in other manga as well, and has become a common line in fighting manga. The person who reads the next words will feel as if they have been seen through, which can cause mental damage and anxiety.

The next Joseph Joestar quote is, "Oh! No!" "My number one least favorite words is 'effort' and number two is 'try your best'." This is what Joseph Joestar says when Caesar tells him he has to train in Battle Tendency in Part 2. Unlike previous protagonists, he has a somewhat frivolous and playful side, making him a typical Joseph Joestar. At this point, he doesn't seem very resolved, but as he continues to train and fights fiercely with the Pillar Men, this resolve is born and he grows into a stronger, more manly man, which is what makes Part 2 interesting.

The third famous Joseph Joestar quote I'd like to introduce is, "'When the enemy triumphs, he's already defeated.' That's Joseph Joestar's way of doing things. He's getting older, but he's still going strong." This quote was spoken during his battle with the Empress in Part 3. By Part 3, a lot of time has passed since Part 2, and Joseph Joestar has become a dapper older man. However, his personality and fundamental qualities have not changed, and it's cool to see him find a way to win even when his opponent has the upper hand in battle. Fans will also be pleased to see that his line choice and playful personality have not changed.

"Jotaro... This trip... was so much fun... So many things happened... "Hehehehe... It was really... fun... 50 days," is another famous line from Joseph Joestar. This quote was spoken by Joseph Joestar as he was dying from Dio's attack during the final battle in Part 3. The scene in which he reminisces about his adventures so far and speaks to his grandson Jotaro in the midst of such a difficult situation is very moving. It is also a moment of despair at Dio's strength as he kills his comrades one after the other. After this, Joseph is also killed by Dio, and the scene in which the main character Jotaro is unable to contain his anger despite being told not to be angry can be considered a classic.
[JoJo's Bizarre Adventure] Joseph Joestar's Famous Quote #5: "Caesar"

The famous line "Caesar" is spoken with sorrow by Joseph Joestar when his rival and partner, Caesar Zeppeli, tragically loses his life after heading to the enemy's hideout first during the Battle of Part 2. Caesar is a comrade who trained alongside Joseph. Although they only met for a few days, a strong bond has developed as they trained together. Just before being killed by his enemy Wamuu, Caesar entrusts Joseph with his trademark bandana and a ring containing an antidote, placed in a bubble of blood. Joseph's cry for Caesar at this time is deeply saddening and is one of the most memorable lines in Part 2.

The next Joseph Joestar quote is, "I just wanted to look cool. In front of you." This famous quote comes from Part 4, "Diamond is Unbreakable." Joseph Joestar, now an old man, is reunited with his son for the first time. One day, he encounters an invisible baby, a natural Stand user, and speaks it when he and his son, Higashikata Josuke, struggle to save the baby. In order to show off in front of his son by rescuing the baby, Joestar rescues the invisible baby, who has fallen into the pool. At the time, he cuts his wrist, staining the pool with his own blood, and is able to find the invisible baby; it is a touching scene that is very much like Joseph, even in his old age. These are typical words of Joseph, and also a fitting conversation between father and son, as Joseph neatly dodges the young Josuke.

The seventh quote from Joseph Joestar is, "What we have lost is as great as this Earth. But it's thanks to them. Thanks to them, we are alive." This quote comes from when he defeats Dio, the final boss of Part 3. He expresses his feelings for his comrades, three of whom were killed by Dio and his minions.
