Momose Narumi, the heroine of Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, is an otaku who loves a wide range of genres. She prides herself on being an otaku who can't resist anything she likes. She pretends to be normal, but she's a true fujoshi. While she claims she's not particularly good at games, her level is clearly higher than Kabakura's... Here are some moments that make you realize Narumi is an otaku.

A 'Yome-chara' is a female character from a favorite anime that a person adores. Narumi always loves multiple 'Yome-chara'.

One day, while browsing through her favorite manga during her lunch break, Narumi discovers that her wife character has died without any warning. She felt depressed throughout the afternoon, unable to even tweet about her usual activities on social media. Worried about her, Hirotaka invites her out for a drink, but she bursts into tears over her wife character's death... It really shows how deeply she loves her wife character.

Don't Compromise When Writing Doujinshi!

Narumi sells the doujinshi she has written at Comiket events. Before one event, she confesses to Koyanagi that while working on a doujinshi, she ended up with something she wasn't satisfied with. Koyanagi tells her, "Isn't a hobby only if you enjoy it?" She decides to rewrite it completely. Narumi continues writing day and night, telling Koyanagi, "I have to be serious about it... It's no fun if I compromise!" She works hard for the things she loves, cutting down on sleep—she's a true otaku!

Hirofumi Nifuji, the protagonist of Wotakoi, is an ultimate game-obsessed otaku! Hirotaka knows a fair bit about anime and isn't put off by fujoshi, but he's also such a gaming nerd that it's no exaggeration to say he's a game-specializing otaku. And he doesn't hide his otaku side at all, even playing portable games during his breaks at work...Here's the moment you realize Hirotaka is an otaku!

Collapses from playing too many games?

Before the long holiday, Hirotaka decided to play all the games on the consoles he normally wouldn't be able to play! He even banned himself from gaming. Even though he was his girlfriend, Narumi, who hadn't made any plans to meet during the holiday, showed up at Hirotaka's room on the last day of the holiday without an appointment. There, I found Hirotaka collapsed, having been playing games without sleep or food... The fact that he was so eager to abstain from gaming before the holidays makes him seem like a serious game nerd, but even worse, playing games without sleep or food makes me wonder just how much of an otaku he really is. lol

I don't like online games! But what level are you on...?

Hirotaka is an extreme game nerd, but he prefers solo play and says he doesn't really like online games designed for multiplayer. However, when he tries playing with everyone, Hirotaka's level is maxed out... He knocks out an enemy that Narumi and the others had been struggling with in one hit, without taking any damage! But no, otaku really shouldn't be underestimated if they're that good at a game they haven't even played that much!

Kabakura-san is a light otaku who loves anime!

Taro Kabakura, Hirotaka and Narumi's senior at work, is a light otaku who enjoys anime and games to a certain extent. Among the characters in Wotakoi: Love is Hard, he's probably on the less otaku side, but he's still a serious otaku. He has a tough look, but who's your favorite character? Click here to see the moment you realize Kabakura is an otaku!

What type of girl does Kabakura like?

It was the day Kabakura went out drinking with Hirotaka, Narumi, and Kabakura's girlfriend, Koyanagi Hanako. A small thing leads to an argument with Koyanagi, who tells him, "I'll never be the Ranka you love!" To which Kabakura replies, "Are you trying to say you're in Sheryl's position?!" His outburst is very otaku-like, but it was also surprising that despite his tough-looking face, he likes small, cute girls like Ranka!

By the way, when asked who his first 2D love was, Kabakura answered without hesitation, "Kyoko Otonashi." After all, she was always the number one character people wanted to marry!

His Christmas present from his girlfriend Koyanagi is...!

Last year, Kabakura was so busy with work that he didn't do anything for Koyanagi. This year, however, he made reservations at a restaurant with a beautiful night view six months in advance. The Christmas present Kabakura received from Koyanagi was, of all people, a figurine of Akaza Akari from "Yuru Yuri." To non-otaku people, this may be a surprising gift, but Kabakura-san was incredibly happy! LOL Although it may seem overshadowed by the people around her, Kabakura-san is definitely an otaku.

Famous cosplayer Koyanagi Hanako!

Koyanagi Hanako wasn't an otaku in high school, but she likely became one due to Kabakura's influence. She's now even more of an otaku than Kabakura. She's a well-known cosplayer specializing in male characters at Comiket. Here's the moment you realize Koyanagi is an otaku!

Unbelievable passion for cosplay!

It goes without saying, but as a famous cosplayer, Koyanagi has an incredible passion for cosplay! Koyanagi says she thinks about her favorite characters the whole time she's crafting her cosplay costume, and the sense of dedication she feels when it's finished is unbelievable. The sense of accomplishment and the commitment to the character are what make it so great. But her dedication to cosplay is what really makes her an otaku. lol

A BL-loving fujoshi!

Speaking of Koyanagi, she's a fujoshi who enjoys lively BL discussions with Narumi. However, while they share the same favorite pairing, the seme and uke roles are always reversed.

Then one day, Koyanagi, who has a strong desire to share the things she likes, tries to get Kabakura to read a BL book. Kabakura is resistant to BL and refuses to read it, but she utters the famous line, "The essence of BL is shoujo manga!" Wanting to share the things she likes and thinking of BL as shoujo manga... what a wonderful otaku she is.

Reclusive in-game! Sakurajo Hikaru!

Hikari Sakurajo is not good at communicating with others and spends all his time playing games alone. It's not that he dislikes interacting with people, but his love of games has led him to become a gaming nerd. Here's the moment you realize that Hikari is an otaku!

Could it be that he's at the same level as Hirotaka?

Sakurajo Hikari is at the same maximum level as Hirotaka in the social game played by all the characters in Wotakoi. When I first saw Hirotaka's character, I said, "It's rare to see a rearguard class character like this, since it's difficult to play solo." But Hikari also soloed a rearguard class character like this. This shows he's definitely a game nerd just like Hirotaka. lol

He can even play arcade games!

Hikari was alone at the arcade when she bumped into Naoya, Hirotaka, and Narumi, and they decided to play together. They played a shooting game together, and despite it being her first time, Hikari achieved an SS rank... This proves she's played a lot of games. And of course, Hirotaka was SSS-ranked. lol

The only non-otaku: Nifuji Naoya!

The older brother is a game addict, but the younger brother, Naoya, is a complete non-otaku. Naoya, who doesn't understand otaku slang and is bad at games, is the only character in Wotakoi who never felt like an otaku. lol

I've compiled a list of moments when the characters in Wotakoi feel like otaku. What do you think? For those of you who consider yourself an otaku, were there any parts you could relate to? I hope that non-otakus will also enjoy reading it and laugh.

In addition to the things I've introduced this time, there are many other aspects that make you feel like everyone is an otaku, such as parodies of Evangelion and JoJo, and lots of otaku slang, so this is an anime that you can enjoy for those aspects as well!
