The Seven Deadly Sins is a hugely popular fantasy adventure currently being serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine. The story centers around the Seven Deadly Sins, a group of knights led by the protagonist Meliodas. In fact, the members of this group were selected by the magical power of King Liones, Bartra, to defeat the Ten Commandments, a unit directly under the Demon King! But why were these members chosen to fight the Ten Commandments? What is their reason for fighting the Ten Commandments? We have considered this question, taking into account the relationships and pasts of the members themselves.

Originally, Meliodas was the leader of the Ten Commandments. However, he was attracted to Elizabeth, a goddess from 3,000 years ago who wished for peace for all five races and wanted a solution other than fighting, and Meliodas changed. Meliodas began acting as a member of the Stigma of Light together with Elizabeth in order to end the Holy War.
3000 years ago, Meliodas and Elizabeth were cursed.

As a result, Meliodas and Elizabeth each ended up betraying their own race. And they were cursed by the Demon King and the Supreme Deity. It's hard to believe that love between two races that shouldn't be united, or saving the enemy, is a sin...
Meliodas is cursed with "eternal life," meaning he will never age and will come back to life even if he dies.
Elizabeth is cursed with "eternal reincarnation," meaning she will live short lives as a human, forgetting all of her memories of her past life each time. And each time she meets Meliodas, falls in love with him, and dies right in front of him.
Both of them are under some pretty nasty curses...
How can the curse be broken?

Elizabeth of the Goddess Tribe lost her life fighting the Demon King and the Supreme God during the Holy War, but was reincarnated as a barbarian and met Meliodas again, regaining her memories of her previous life. At that time, in order to free Meliodas from his suffering, the barbarian Elizabeth told him the details of the curse and made him promise that she would lift it even if she died. From then on, the purpose of Meliodas' journey became to lift the curse. And so he has been on the journey for 3000 years.
But is there any power that can counter the curse of the strongest combination, the Demon King and the Supreme God? This is just a guess, but the

In fact, Meliodas and Merlin have been together for the longest time. As for when, it seems that they have been together since before the Holy War. LOL When Elizabeth regained her memories from her past life, she asked, "Are you still living alone in Belialin? Did you come to visit Meliodas today?" Also, the moment Fraudrin and Greylord of the

When Bartra saw a sign with his [Clairvoyance (Vision)] that "The Seven Deadly Sins will become the guardians of the Kingdom of Liones," he called Meliodas to talk to him, and suddenly Merlin appeared. And he says that if Bartra hadn't seen the sign, it would have been nearly impossible to find the other five people besides himself and Meliodas. That means Merlin knew that the Ten Commandments would be resurrected and that he was gathering members to defeat them.
Why is Merlin trying to defeat the Ten Commandments?

What is Merlin's reason for fighting the Ten Commandments? According to the official fan book, the most embarrassing thing in Merlin's life is "the only thing he ever confessed in his life." Also, in the spinoff about the Seven Deadly Sins' summer vacation, when Merlin hears that Meliodas was thinking of buying a present for Elizabeth, he says, "Captain, you've already given her enough, haven't you?" Meliodas replies, "Huh? What?" Merlin says, "...something you never gave me."
Doesn't this mean that Merlin liked Meliodas? Or maybe she still likes him. Of course, Merlin knows about the curse on Meliodas and Elizabeth. From this, isn't it natural to think that he is trying to break the curse for Meliodas?
The fate of Ban, a man of deep compassion.

Ban encounters the Red Demon in the fairy forest where he met Elaine. At that time, the Red Demon took the life of his lover Elaine, so he has a strong grudge against the Demon Clan. From that point on, Ban was destined to fight the Demon Clan.
But that's not all! He deeply regrets having once tried to kill his best friend Meliodas in order to revive Elaine. He also hurt Meliodas by saying to him, "Do you know the pain of making the woman you love die twice?" (Meliodas was there for Elizabeth's final moments in Episode 106), and now he wants to help her. These two words alone are enough to motivate the passionate Ban! He doesn't have many important things, so he cherishes them to the fullest! That's Ban.
Diane cares about her friends more than anyone else! Kind-hearted.

Diane has a body much larger than a human and has been feared by humans. Diane has a lot of trust in Meliodas, who accepted her as a giant and gave her a place to belong. He also considers Elizabeth to be a precious friend, and even though he didn't know about the curse, he feels extremely guilty about giving Elizabeth the opportunity to regain her memories of her past life. That's why he wants to defeat the Ten Commandments and save Elizabeth and Meliodas no matter what.
Does he have the qualities to be a Titan?!

Diane's teacher is Matrona, the leader of the giants, the Fang of the Earth. Matrona acknowledges that she has the talent to surpass Diane if she so desires. When Matrona reunited with Diane, she taught her the Dance of Drole, which has been passed down from generation to generation to the head of the Titans! Does this mean that Diane has the potential to become the head of the Titans in the future? 3000 years ago, Drole, the King of the Titans, also fought against the Demons as a Stigmata of Light, so perhaps Diane was destined to fight against the Demons as a representative of the Titans.

Long ago, King left his hometown, entrusting the fairy forest to his sister Elaine, in order to save his best friend Helbram. However, he was unable to save Helbram, and the fairy forest burned down, and Elaine lost her life. While he was seriously injured and lost his memory, he lived with Diane, who had helped him, and Diane also became an important person to King. However, King was later arrested as a criminal and could no longer be with her, so he erased Diane's memories when he left her.
King always ends up giving up everything that is important to him. But now he doesn't want to lose Diane, Elaine who was brought back to life by the magic of Melascula of the Ten Commandments, or Ban, who always thinks of Elaine. He chose to fight to protect the people he cares about from the Ten Commandments who are standing against them.
Why do demons appear in the Fairy Forest?

When Elaine lost her life, a red demon suddenly appeared in the fairy forest. Elaine herself said, "Why didn't the forest tell me?" And then, with the revival of the Ten Commandments, the giant Albion suddenly appeared in the fairy forest... Could there be some reason why the demons are targeting the fairy forest? The Fountain of Youth and the Sacred Tree are both mysterious places in the Fairy Forest, so I feel like there must be some reason why it's being targeted. If the Demons are targeting the Fairy Forest, then King, the Fairy King, is destined to fight them.
Escanor and Merlin.

Escanor was born into the royal family of the Kingdom of Castelion, but was shunned and bullied by his older brother. As a result, his magical powers manifested, causing serious injuries to his brother, and a fortune teller told him, "If he is allowed to live, he will bring disaster to the kingdom." As a result, he seeks asylum from his only ally, his maid Rosa, but with nowhere to go, he becomes a wanderer. During his wanderings, he meets Merlin and Meliodas, and joins the Seven Deadly Sins. Escanor is similar to his maid Rosa, and Merlin is not afraid of Escanor's magical powers and treats him kindly, so he gradually becomes attracted to her and falls in love with her. To Escanor, Merlin is the sun and surely everything to him. Perhaps it is for Merlin that Escanor fights the Ten Commandments.

Escanor's magical power is very mysterious, and it manifests with the sunrise and reaches its peak at noon. At noon, his battle power is at an immeasurable level, but at night he becomes a skinny old man with a battle power of 15. Ludociel, one of the Four Archangels, who saw Escanor's magic, says that it is the "sun" of the "grace" of his younger brother, Mael, one of the Four Archangels. Escanor seems to have no recollection of this, but since Mael was killed by Estarossa of the Ten Commandments, if it is Mael's power, it seems like Escanor was born to fight the Ten Commandments.
Former Ten Commandments! Gowther's puppet Gowther.

Gowther's real body is a magician who even the Demon King respects, and Gowther in "The Seven Deadly Sins" is a doll created by the great magician Gowther. Gowther's real body was a member of the Ten Commandments and had been given the commandment of "selflessness," but the Demon King, fearing his power, imprisoned him in a prison in the Demon World for 500 years. During that time, Gowther (the doll) became the eyes and ears of Gowther's real body, connecting it to the outside world.
Was it Gowther who ended the Holy War 3000 years ago?

When Diane and King went 3000 years ago for the trial, Gowthel's body had reached its mental limit and escaped from the prison of the demon world in order to become free and end the Holy War. And Gowthel says that if his thinking is correct, he can surely end the Holy War. Could it be that Gowther created Britannia, where the Demons were sealed away and the Goddesses turned into spirits? The current Gowther (doll) says that he is not sure if anyone will believe him and that he cannot talk about it yet.
Gowther's real body asked Gowther (doll) to make the dream that he was unable to achieve come true. Perhaps in order to make Gowther's "dream" come true, he needs to defeat the Demon King who imprisoned him and his direct unit, the Ten Commandments.

Gowthel's real body had lost its memories and emotions due to the curse of his own commandments. Therefore, he cannot teach Gowthel anything other than knowledge, and his emotions are at the level of a baby. Furthermore, Gowthel erased his memories and lid on his emotions due to the shock of losing his beloved Naaja. However, thanks to Diane's efforts, she has regained her memories and begun to develop emotions, and now sees the members of the Seven Deadly Sins as important allies. That's why she chose to share her goals with her friends and fight the Ten Commandments.
Summary of why the Seven Deadly Sins members were chosen
Source: The Seven Deadly Sins © Suzuki Nakaba, Kodansha / "The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments" Production Committee, MBS
I think each member has a different past and has different thoughts and feelings when they choose to fight the Ten Commandments, which will be a threat to Britannia. The Seven Deadly Sins now know about the curses of Meliodas and Elizabeth. This fate was decided because the members never give in to their precious friends, no matter how strong their opponents are. The battle with the Ten Commandments is about to get serious, but I'm sure these seven will be fine!
