CLANNAD Quotes Top 10

Sunohara grins at the thought of something bad

"And the toilet seat cover" (Sunohara Yohei)

Source: CLANNAD
I'm sorry that this is the start after I've been hyping it up so much (lol) but this comment was a big topic of conversation at the time, and it was a great lubricant in the many touching scenes in CLANNAD. Although she accidentally said this line after being tempted by Okazaki, I think it is a wonderful phrase that encapsulates the great character of Sunohara.

CLANNAD Quotes #9

Watching the sunset from the window

"The day before yesterday I saw a rabbit. Yesterday I saw a deer. Today I saw you." (Ichinose Kotomi)

Source: CLANNAD
This is a line spoken by Kotomi when she reunites with Tomoya for the first time since childhood. I remember when I first heard it I wondered what it was really saying. However, as the story progresses it gradually becomes clearer. Perhaps it's because Kotomi is set up as a genius, but this line is so profound that it's hard to explain in words. Anyway, this line has an original source; the novel Kotomi always carries with her is called Dandelion Girl, and it's a phrase that appears in that novel. It's a real novel, and there are many scenes where Kotomi's scenario and Dandelion Girl are linked in various ways.

CLANNAD Quotes #8

Ryo reading Okazaki's fortune

"Fortune telling can be wrong, so even if the result is bad, I think the future can be changed depending on the effort of the person and those around them." (Fujibayashi Ryo)

This is a line from Fujibayashi Ryo, who loves fortune telling. Even if the result of the fortune telling is bad, fortune telling is still fortune telling after all, so it's a line that encourages you to do whatever you want. Even if it's tough to do it alone, someone around you can help you, it's a very true statement that can only be said to be true. Even if the fortune-telling result is bad, you can think of it as a positive thing, or as a chance to change your path by knowing what will happen in the future. On the other hand, even if the fortune-telling result is good, if you listen to it and rest easy, your luck may slip away.

CLANNAD Quotes #7

Fuko appears out of nowhere

"Fuko is here!" (Ibuki Fuko)

Source: CLANNAD
If you only heard the line, you might think it was a joke, but it is (lol). In the game, Fuko barely appears on any route other than the one in the Fuko route, and there's a strong theory that the anime staff added an extra scene for Fuko fans, and this line is when Fuko shows up out of nowhere when Okazaki is in trouble. Then she leaves without being particularly helpful (lol). But it's okay, isn't it? Fuko shows up to help in her own way, and her efforts are conveyed, which is very soothing.

CLANNAD Quotes #6

The Okazaki family going out together

"The town and the people are all family. We are the Dango Family." (Furukawa Nagisa)

Source: CLANNAD
Nagisa's favorite Dango Family was popular a while ago, and in the early days I thought it was just a joke, but starting with this line, Dango Family became such an important and powerful word as the series progressed. Even though the scenery and people of the town where she grew up have changed, Nagisa still loves this town, so this is a statement that only Nagisa could make. It was because of Nagisa that the town was able to create a miracle.

CLANNAD Quotes #5

Fuko in Tomoya's dream

"Please be friends with Fuko" (Ibuki Fuko)

In the last scene of the Fuko scenario, Fuko has disappeared from everyone's memories, but she appears in Okazaki's dream. I think it was Fuko who Okazaki called from the back of his memory in a dream, and the imagery at this moment made me think that this is probably how Fuko would come running when she woke up, and it was a great scene and famous line. It follows on from the scene where everyone sees the wooden carving of a starfish that Fuko gave them, which clearly looks like a star, and says "starfish" in unison, so maybe it's because I personally love this so much that I remember being very moved by it.

CLANNAD Quotes #4

Naoyuki's clear consciousness after a long time

"I see, before I knew it, I'd finished..." (Okazaki Naoyuki)

Source: CLANNAD
This is one of the most tear-jerking scenes in CLANNAD, and it's the line of Okazaki's father, Naoyuki. After injuring his son, Naoyuki was honestly not shown doing anything as a father, and in the end he was arrested on what seemed like a false accusation, and Tomoya treated him like a jinx. But when Tomoya met his grandmother and realized all the sacrifices Naoyuki had made to raise him, and Tomoya realized things now that he was a father himself, Naoyuki finally thanked him and they made peace. Naoyuki spoke these lines in the scene where Tomoya expressed his gratitude and they made peace. He had devoted his life to raising Tomoya, and his son told him that he had done everything he could. The viewers were quite disappointed in Naoyuki, but at the very end, Naoyuki was truly forgiven.

CLANNAD Quotes #3

Fuko making her final farewell

"You always took me to fun places, and every day was like a festival, and it was so much fun. Thank you. Fuko, it was fun..." (Ibuki Fuko)

Source: CLANNAD
This is the climax scene of the Fuko scenario. Up until that point, Fuko had been relatively cheeky towards Okazaki, but these were her final words to Okazaki and Nagisa, who had worked so hard for her and for Fuko's older sister. Although only their backs are shown in this scene, the sobbing of Okazaki and Nagisa can gradually be heard, and as we watch, we find ourselves in the exact same situation. Later, they appear in front of their sister in a fantastical way, leading to a scene where they congratulate each other, which was truly wonderful.

CLANNAD Quotes No. 2

Fuko finds Ushio sleeping under a tree

"The fun is about to begin" (Ibuki Fuko)

Source: CLANNAD
The words that Fuko said to the sleeping girl she happened to find at the very end of AFTER STORY. Fuko was able to wake up, Nagisa and Ushio were alive, and everyone was able to have wonderful days, so this is a statement that could only be made in a world where that is the case. I think there's a connection between Okazaki's line in episode 1, that if there's nothing fun to do, then just look for something fun, and Fuko's final line. She's had a lot of hardships and this line comes after overcoming them, so combined with the emotion of the final episode, it's a line that really remains deep in my memory as a part of CLANNAD.

CLANNAD Quote No. 1

Tomoya and Ushio hug each other while crying at a place full of memories

"Nagisa, I found it, I finally found it, something that only I can protect, something irreplaceable that only I can protect, it was here" (Tomoya Okazaki)

Source: CLANNAD
This line by Tomoya, spoken in a famous scene that competes for first and second place in the tear-jerking scenes in CLANNAD. Abandonment of his child due to the shock of losing Nagisa, and then seeing his child for the first time in about five years. They go to a place that Tomoya also went to with his father when he was a child, and there he meets his grandmother and hears about the difficulties his father faced. He learns that the person his father loved left behind an important person in this world was Tomoya, and that she sacrificed her own life to raise Tomoya with all her might, and he realizes what he, too, should do as a father. Tomoya resolves to do his best to take care of the precious treasure that Nagisa left behind, and to take it back, and you'll be in tears.

CLANNAD Famous Quotes Summary

Tomoyo, Nagisa, and Anzu playing with Okazaki
Source: CLANNAD
I personally like Fuko, so I'm sorry that the list is a bit long (lol). I narrowed it down to 10 famous quotes this time, but there are still many more that I couldn't include, and I think that there are many lines that I didn't think were that great, but that could become famous depending on the person who watches or hears them. CLANNAD has a lot of such things, and it is a really deep work. If you haven't seen CLANNAD recently and feel like you haven't been moved by anything, then you should definitely give it a watch. Thank you for reading to the end.
