Have you heard of Lord Jeremiah, also known as Mr. Orange?
You might think he's just a minor character who appears early on, but
he turns out to be an important character who makes his presence felt even later on.
Today, we'd like to feature Mr. Orange.
Who is Jeremiah Gottwald, also known as Mr. Orange?
He is a military officer with the title of Margrave, a descendant of the prestigious Gottwald family of Britannia.
He is actually even more important than Dr. Lloyd.
Although he is a commander, he also has a warlike side, piloting a KMF into battle himself.
He is deeply loyal to the royal family and appears to have had a great respect for Lelouch's mother, Marianne.
However, he once failed to protect Marianne despite being her guardian, and regrets that experience have led him to a strong determination to protect the royal family.
Although he's often jokingly referred to as "Orange Orange," he holds a fairly high position and is a serious person with strong convictions.
Why is he called "Orange"?
He's famously known as "Orange," but why did he come to be called "Orange-kun"?
It all began in episode 4 of the first season of Code Geass, when Lelouch, also known as Zero, used a bluff to rescue Suzaku, who had been taken into custody on suspicion of murdering Clovis.
Zero demanded that Suzaku be released, but Jeremiah rejected his request.
At that time, Zero said, "Are you sure? I'll make Orange public!"
However, Orange was just a meaningless bluff created by Zero,
and not only the people around him, but even Lord Jeremiah himself had no idea what it was about.
However, after that, he was Geassed with the message "Let us off the hook with all our might," and he did indeed let Zero and the others off with all his might,
which further deepened suspicions about Orange, and those around him came to see "Orange" as a word that represented Lord Jeremiah's corruption.
As a result, Lord Jeremiah, also known as Orange, was demoted in the military. He was also demoted as a pilot. He was mocked as "Orange" at every opportunity, and he came to hate Zero intensely.
Orange-kun's Famous Quotes (or Famous Quotes?)
He's often mocked as "Orange" by not only viewers but also other characters, but
part of that is due to his ridiculous lines.
I'd like to introduce some of his lines!
"Use all your strength to let them go!"
These words, faithfully executed by the Geass used on Zero, "Use all your strength to let them go."
As a result of using all his strength to let them go, he was cruelly stripped of his position.
Poor Orange...
"I'm not Orange... Zero!"
Defeaten in battle against Karen during the Battle of Narita. Sir Jeremiah, broken both physically and mentally, mutters these words and collapses in front of a passing truck.
Zero's casual comment, "orange," caused Sir Jeremiah so much pain.
Poor thing...
"Good morning."
The dying Sir Jeremiah is picked up by Shogun Trey as part of his research and undergoes biological modification.
Awakened there, Jeremiah, though still unadjusted, begins to act out of resentment toward Zero,
but his speech and behavior become incoherent.
His modifications have made him seem robotic, even his thought processes seem a bit odd.
This strange way of speaking was a big reason why he became the subject of jokes.
And even though he finally started moving, he was immediately sunk to the bottom of the sea.
What a treatment.
He also speaks a lot of other incomprehensible words. Every time he says one of them it becomes a joke.
It's hilarious, so be sure to pay attention to Orange's lines!
Orange-kun Summary
Have you learned a little about Lord Jeremiah (Orange-kun)?
He eventually learns that Zero is Lelouch, the son of Marianne, whom Lelouch adores the most, and becomes Zero's vassal.
He was called Orange, and yet he swore loyalty to the one he hated the most... It's ironic, isn't it?
But that makes him happy.
And after Lelouch leaves, he runs an orange farm.
"Orange" was once just a bluff, but in the end it became a word that transcended everything for him. Let's continue to support Orange, who continues to be loved by everyone!
