We'll be introducing new characters appearing in the second season of the anime. Season two will cover Kaigyoku, which begins in Volume 8, Chapter 65 of the manga, as well as Tamaori and the Shibuya Incident. We'll be introducing new characters and characters appearing for the first time along the storyline, along with explanations of their abilities.
New Characters Appearing in Kaigyoku
Kaigyoku is a prequel, going back to Gojo Satoru's days at technical college. It tells the story of when Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru were best friends, like Itadori Yuji and Fushiguro Megumi. The reason for their falling out will become clear in Kaigyoku and Tamaori. A new character also appears in Kaigyoku, so we'll introduce them.
Meimei
Meimei appears in the first scene of Kaigyoku, Episode 65. She is Gojo Satoru's senior sorcerer and a first-class sorcerer. While she has not yet had a combat scene in Kaigyoku, she fights during the Shibuya Incident, accompanied by her younger brother, Uiyuu. Her technique is Black Bird Manipulation, which allows her to control crows. She can share her vision with the crows and Meimei. She excels in close combat and has trained to be able to fight without the use of her technique.
Amanai Riko
A second-year junior high school girl. She is a Seikyotai. She is a compatible individual who can assimilate with Tengen-sama and reset his technique. She has understood this and lived her life with resolve. However, towards the end of the story, Geto Suguru asks her what she will do, even though she is prepared to fight Tengen-sama. She chooses to return to Kuroi. However, she is killed on the spot by Fushiguro Jinji.
Kuroi Misato
She is in charge of caring for Amano Riko. Although she is 31 years old, she looks so young that people often ask if she's a student. She is believed to have been killed by Fushiguro shortly after parting ways with Riko. However, Fushiguro himself has said, "She's probably dead," so it's unclear what happened.
What is Tengen-sama?
A being like the foundation of the Jujutsu world, she possesses the formula for immortality, but because she is not eternal, she must assimilate with her Seikyo body once every 500 years to reset the formula. If she does not reset, the formula will apparently attempt to reshape her body and evolve, turning her into a higher, non-human being with no will of her own. In the worst case scenario, she could become an enemy of humanity.
New Characters Appearing in Tamaori
One year after his battle with Fushiguro Jinji, who was trying to kill the Seikyotai with a kaiju, Gojo Satoru has become the strongest, but something strange is happening to Geto Suguru. He was fulfilling his duties as a sorcerer to protect non-sorcerers, but the incident with Amano Riko begins to shake his way of thinking.
Tsukumo Yuki
He has a habit of asking people he meets for the first time about their sexual preferences, asking, "What kind of woman is your type?" He is also the master of Aoi Todo, who shares the same habit. He is one of only four special-grade sorcerers in Japan, and appears during the Shibuya Incident, where he appears at the end to save the day as sorcerers are being killed one after another. His remarks during Tamaori's entrance scene are one of the catalysts that lead Geto Suguru to fall into darkness. His spell is the Star's Wrath (Bon Baie). It bestows virtual mass on Garuda (a Shikigami that has been transformed into a cursed object).
Kong Shiu
A former detective of Korean nationality. He appears as an intermediary when the Bankeikyo requests an assassination from Fushiguro Jinji. In Tamaori, he is a mysterious character, as he first uses the Bankeikyo on Geto, who has become a curse user. Author Akutami describes him as the coolest character in the past arcs. He is said to have no special powers.
New Characters Appearing in the Shibuya Incident
The Shibuya Incident was a major terrorist-like incident committed by curse users that occurred in Shibuya on Halloween, October 31, 2018. The masterminds were Geto Suguru (a fake) and special-grade cursed spirits, and many ordinary citizens were caught up in the incident and taken hostage.
Uiui (Wrath)
Meimei's younger brother, he calls her "big sister." He appears to be much older than her and wears a shirt and shorts with suspenders. Yuuyu seems to be deeply infatuated with Meimei, as can be seen from his words. His abilities are limited by Meimei, and he can only use them with Meimei's "I'll risk my life" password. He can create simple areas and barriers, and they support each other with their abilities.
Chousou
He is the conceived form of the special-grade cursed object, the Nine Curses of the Womb, and is the older brother of Esou and Kechizu, who were defeated by Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki in episode 62. At the end of the anime, there's a scene where he plays something like the Game of Life with the fake Geto and the others, and says that his younger brother has died, but during the Shibuya Incident, he attacks Itadori Yuji, calling him his brother's avenger! He fights him. His technique is the Red Blood Mania technique, and the Kusozu brothers' blood is a hybrid of cursed spirits and humans, giving them a unique constitution that allows them to convert cursed energy into blood, so it seems they won't die from blood loss unless their cursed energy is depleted.
Zen'in Naobito
He is the 26th head of the Zen'in family, one of the three great families of Jujutsu, and a special first-class sorcerer. Although he's 71 years old, he's still active and is fighting in the Shibuya Incident as part of the Zen'in team. His favorite thing is alcohol. There's even a scene during the Shibuya Incident where he drinks alcohol while everyone else is fighting, and then asks for more. The technique is a projection spell, which divides one second into 24 parts and traces movements created within the field of view. The technique is called "Fallen Flowers' Feelings," a domain-defying technique passed down through the generations of the Three Great Families.
Summary
Many new enemy characters, including cursed spirits and curse users, will appear. Many enemies are far stronger than those previously seen, and there will be battle scenes featuring sorcerers who have never previously had combat scenes, as well as various techniques. If you're unfamiliar with the spells, a summary is provided in Volume 10 of the manga, so it's a good idea to reread it and review it.
