"I Want to Become the Strongest in the World!" is a popular light novel series based on the Narou genre, with a total circulation of over 4 million copies. The first season of the anime aired last year, and the second season is already scheduled to air in October of this year, creating a buzz. Before watching the second season, we'll take a look back at the plot of the first season! This article, part one, will introduce the first half of the story.

The Chuunibyou Protagonist Goes to Another World

Kageyama Minoru has always admired the "strongest in the world" since he was a child, and is a typical chuunibyou-esque boy. Kageno steadily prepares to become a powerful figure in the shadows. One day, his classmate Nishino, who is active in the entertainment industry, is kidnapped by someone. Kageno puts his inherent chuunibyou (middle school second-year syndrome) to good use, calling himself a stylish bowgun player and fighting off the kidnappers. This is the result of daily training with the goal of becoming a powerful figure in the shadows. Although he performed well enough to live up to his reputation as a powerful figure in the shadows, Kageno is then hit by a truck and dies. This is where his reincarnation into another world begins. Reincarnated in another world, Kageno begins life as Sid, the second son of Baron Kageno, a rural aristocrat. While living up to his daily life, he also demonstrates his talents, such as saving an elf possessed by a demon.

Confessing to the Princess, and...

Cid turns 15 and enrolls in the Midgar Magic Swordsman Academy in the royal capital. While enjoying his school life, he is forced to face a punishment game: whoever scores lowest on a test must confess to Princess Alexia. Since the princess is of a different social status, Cid naturally assumes he will be rejected when he confesses, but she actually accepts. Both Cid and his friends are shocked. Panicked by this unexpected turn of events, Cid tries to make Alexia dislike him by stealing her food. Later, Alexia learns from Cid's friend that confessing was the punishment. Perhaps sensing Cid's weakness, she treated him like a dog, forcing Cid to go along with the situation. One day, Alexia was kidnapped. To rescue her, Cid infiltrated the enemy's hideout. Cid ended up facing off against Zenon, and cornered, Zenon awakened with drugs, but he was no match for Cid.

It was supposed to be a sword-fighting tournament...

The kidnapping case was safely resolved, and Cid and his friends visited Mizukoshi Trading Company. Meanwhile, a disturbing incident was occurring in the royal capital: an assassin posing as Shadow Garden had appeared. However, it seems Cid knows her true identity (probably believing her to be Alexia). Later, Cid faces off against Princess Rose of the Kingdom of Oriana in a sword-fighting tournament that his friend signed him up for without his permission. During the battle, a group of men in black cast a barrier, and the situation suddenly changes.

The Conclusion of the School Occupation Incident

After shielding Rose from a group of men in black, Cid is slashed himself, satisfied that he has fulfilled his role as a mob character. He's excited that the terrorists taking over the school, a scenario he's always dreamed of, has come true. With the school in dire straits, a device is deployed to neutralize enemy attacks, and the students launch a counterattack. The mastermind behind this is revealed to be Vice Principal Ruslan, who must confront Cid. This is perhaps the first time Cid, who only fights for himself, fights for others. After defeating Ruslan, the school takeover incident is successfully resolved.

Synopsis Summary

This concludes the first half of the synopsis for Season 1. While stories about the pre-reincarnation world are often wrapped up simply, this series' first episode is focused almost entirely on the pre-reincarnation world, and the story is carefully crafted. With both comedy and serious elements, it's a show that never tires of boring. What will the second half of the story unfold? We'll be introducing it in Part 2, so be sure to check it out!
