"Nijiyon Animation" is an anime based on the four-panel comic "Nijiyon," a spin-off of the Love Live series "Nijigasaki High School Idol Club." It has been much talked about as it will be made into an anime in January 2023. The members of the School Idol Club have been transformed into cute characters while retaining their individual personalities, allowing you to enjoy the various aspects of their daily lives. In this article, we'd like to give you a quick rundown of the characters that will be appearing next year before the series airs!

Takasaki Yuu

The protagonist of this work. What makes her very different from the protagonists of other Love Live series is that she is not a school idol herself. She is in a position to support the members who are school idols, and is active in a position similar to that of a manager or producer. She is good at piano, and writes lyrics and composes music. She also supports them mentally, and is a great emotional support for her close friend Ayumu in particular.

Uehara Ayumu

A second-year student in the School Idol Club at Nijigasaki Academy. She is a character in a similar position to the original Kosaka Honoka and Sunshine's Takami Chika. She has red hair and a distinctive side bun. She has a very calm and gentle personality, and is popular with many fans. There is not much of a hierarchical relationship within the club, and everyone is basically friendly, but Ayumu calls her seniors "san" and has a very polite side. She calls her juniors "chan," and has a friendly side as a senior.

Yuuki Setsuna

A second-year student at Nijigasaki Academy. She serves as the student council president, and at that time she goes by her real name, Nakagawa Nana. When she works as an idol, she uses the stage name Yuuki Setsuna. During the first series of the anime, the fact that these two were the same person was unknown to anyone other than the club members. However, it gradually became known, and at the end of the second series, she revealed her true identity in front of the entire student body, surprising them. As Yuuki Setsuna, she shows off a powerful singing voice and performance that is hard to imagine from the student council president.

Miyashita Ai

A second-year student at Nijigasaki Academy. She has blonde hair and a gal-like appearance, making her a character that has never been seen in the Love Live series before. Her personality is just like her appearance, and she is a very energetic and cheerful person. She calls herself "Ai-san." She is good at both studying and sports, and is also active as a helper for club activities. Her family runs a monjayaki restaurant, and members have come to eat monjayaki. She basically calls everyone by their first names or nicknames, and her friendly personality allows her to quickly close the distance with others, which is her charm.

Kasumi Nakasu

A first-year student at Nijigasaki Academy. She is a little self-conscious, and calls herself a "devilish school idol" and "cute". However, this is because she loves school idols and is trying her best to be a good student. She wants people to call her "Kasumin". She gets angry when people call her "Kasukasu" and asks for corrections. Her passion for idols is stronger than any other member, and she is a person of action who has come up with various strategies to popularize school idols.

Sakurazaka Shizuku

She is a first-year student at Nijigasaki Academy. She has long dark brown hair tied in a princess knot. In addition to her idol activities, she is also a member of the drama club, and the reason she started school idols was because she thought it would help her study theater. She and Nakasu Kasumi are in the same grade, so they are good friends and can talk to each other without hesitation. When she was having trouble with her theater, Kasumi encouraged her and she was able to go on stage without any problems. She often scolds Kasumi for her excessive behavior, and they have a good relationship.

Tennouji Rina

A first-year student at Nijigasaki Academy, she is characterized by her pink curled hair. She is not good at expressing her emotions, so when she reacts to something, she uses a tool called the "Rina-chan Board" instead. There are various facial expression patterns prepared, and she reacts by bringing the board to her face like a mask. She started being a school idol because she wanted to fix her shy personality, but she disappeared the day before her first live performance due to anxiety about whether she would be able to do it well. After that, with the persuasion of the other members, she was able to stand on stage without any problems, and the live performance at that time gradually gave her confidence.

Emma Verte

A third-year student at Nijigasaki Academy. Originally from Switzerland, she is the first purely foreign school idol in the series. She has distinctive red hair with braids, is the second tallest after Asaka Karin, and has a great figure. She has a bright and cheerful personality and speaks in a way that can be described as soothing. Having come to Japan from abroad, she lives in a dormitory. She is very close with Karin, who lives in the same dormitory, and they often visit each other's rooms and wake each other up in the morning. Omi Kanata is also in the same grade, and they have deepened their friendship through their idol activities.

Asaka Karin

A third-year student at Nijigasaki Academy. She is tall and has a good figure, and as you can see in the image, she is the object of admiration for the students at the school. Taking advantage of her good figure, she works as a model in parallel with her studies and school idol activities. She is very close with Emma Verte, who lives in the same dormitory. Her way of thinking is sometimes so mature that it is hard to believe she is a high school student, which moves the hearts of the other members. In fact, she is directionally challenged and often gets lost. She is also surprisingly not good at studying. Such gaps are also a reason for her popularity.

Konoe Kanata

A third-year student at Nijigasaki Academy. She has long, lightly permed brown hair, and while she is a school idol, she also works part-time (part-time work is in the anime version). Due to this background, she seems to have had a harder time than the other members. She has a younger sister who is also a school idol, and she is very much looking forward to her sister's success as an idol. She is good at cooking, probably because she often does housework in place of her busy mother, and she sometimes shows off her skills at the club.

Mifune Shioriko

A first-year student at Nijigasaki Academy. She has a polite and serious personality, and is characterized by her slightly visible double teeth. She appears in the anime version from the second series. In the app game, she is a character who is assertive, for better or worse, and fought with Yuki Setsuna for the position of student council president. In the anime version, there is no such conflict, and while she has her own opinions, she behaves in a way that respects others, and her character has changed considerably between the app and the game.

Sho Ranju

A second-year student at Nijigasaki Academy. She is half Japanese and half Hong Kong, and came from Hong Kong. She is a bright and powerful character, but she often makes arrogant remarks, and in the app version, she was criticized by some users for her behavior. However, in the anime version, she does not make such remarks, and she has become a character who makes many bullish remarks in a good way, which has increased her popularity. Her talent as an idol is solid, and she captivates with her overwhelming singing ability and performance.

Mia Taylor

She is a first-year student at Nijigasaki Academy. Her platinum blonde hair is distinctive as it hides her right eye. Born into a famous musical family, she boasts an outstanding sense of composition. She has absolute confidence in composing, but once she loses confidence, she falls into a slump. At that time, she met Tennoji Rina and regained her confidence, and from then on, she became close enough to be called best friends with Rina.

Character Introduction Summary

All the characters are unique and have their own merits, so it's hard to decide who to support! If you can't decide, it might be a good idea to support the whole group (support all the members). I'm looking forward to next year's broadcast! That's all for now. Thank you for reading.
