The second season of "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" will finally begin in January 2022. The first season ended with the group conquering two labyrinths and welcoming Kaori Kinosaki as a new member of the team, but we're sure you're wondering how the story will unfold. So, this time, we'll give you a quick rundown of the plot, including spoilers from the original manga.
Trouble Already in the Great Desert
With Kaori Kinosaki as their newest member, the group heads into the Gruen Desert. The blowing sand created a copper-red world at 360 degrees, and temperatures exceeding 40 degrees made the journey even more agonizing for travelers... But Hajime and his friends were traveling by car, so they didn't mind. They glided through the hellish desert in the cool car. Even so, Yue and Kaori were fighting over Hajime, and it was hellish for them... Then, a giant sandworm appeared. Hajime easily defeated them and discovered a figure collapsed on the ground. Kaori heals the young man, who clearly looks unwell, and utters the words "magic runaway."
The group heads to the Principality of Ankaji
The young man, whose life was saved by Kaori's magic, introduces himself as the son of the lord of the Principality of Ankaji. The young man says that, like him, tens of thousands of people in the Principality are suffering from an unknown illness, some of which may have left them unconscious. They later determine that the cause is contamination of the oasis, and that calming the magical activity requires the tranquilizing stone found at the Gruen Volcano. Hajime and his friends ultimately decide to help others, so they head to the Principality of Ankaji.
Eradicating Monsters at the Oasis
After arriving in the Principality of Ankaji, Hajime and his friends first head to the reservoir to do something about the contaminated water. Yue is extremely helpful there, using magic to remove the contamination from the reservoir. Next, Hajime and his friends head to the oasis, the source of the contamination. There, a slime-like monster called Patchelam was waiting for them. However, Hajime and his friends easily defeated it as well. The water quality did not return to normal immediately, but by defeating the culprit, Patchelam, Hajime and his friends were able to earn the gratitude of the people. However, there are still many suffering patients in the Principality of Ankaji, so Hajime and his friends head to their destination, the Great Gruen Volcano, to obtain the Calming Stone to save the patients...or rather, as they had originally planned to go there.
Grünen Volcano
Hajime and his party head to the Great Gruen Volcano, located several hundred kilometers from the Principality of Ankaji. Kaori is unable to accompany them because she is receiving medical treatment in the Principality of Ankaji, leaving her to stay home with Mew. However, there's another commotion here... a goodbye kiss war breaks out. Hajime is exhausted even before they set off, but they finally arrive at the Great Gruen Volcano. His first thought upon seeing it is, "It's just like Laputa." With such joking around, Hajime and his friends drive into the sandstorm. Watching the sandstorm that made it almost impossible to see what was ahead from inside the car, Hajime and his friends were once again grateful for the car. After battling sandworms along the way, they finally entered the interior of the Great Gruen Volcano.
Inside the Gruen Volcano
Hajime and his friends had conquered the Orcus Great Labyrinth and the Raisen Great Labyrinth, but the interior of the Gruen Volcano was even more incredible. Magma, of course. Not only was there magma on the ground, but it also erupted from the walls and even floated and flowed in the air. The boss of this labyrinth was a magma bull. It seemed like they would have a hard time fighting it, as fire-based magic would be ineffective, but Hajime's impact transformation magic, enhanced by Shea's unique magic, shattered its head with a single blow. The attack was so powerful that even the attacker was taken aback. The group continued to fend off monsters, but unexpectedly, or perhaps it was just expected... they were left groggy by their greatest enemy: heat. Fire is better than ice. So, the group decided to take a short rest on the ice block created by Yue's ice magic.
The Final Trial of the Great Gruen Volcano
Hajime and his friends mine tranquilizing stones while battling magma-based monsters, including magma cows, magma bats, and finally magma snakes. The magma bats and magma snakes are particularly troublesome. While not particularly formidable, they are numerous. No matter how many you defeat, more keep spawning. Then, after defeating eight Magma Snakes, something strange happened... The rock wall began to glow, and of the approximately 100 ores embedded in the wall, about eight were glowing. Thinking that defeating 100 Magma Snakes would be their challenge, Hajime and his friends began hunting Magma Snakes. The moment they defeated the last one, an aurora borealis poured down from above, engulfing everything in the vicinity.
Freed Bagua
Hajime narrowly dodged the aurora borealis that was suddenly released, avoiding a fatal blow. Even so, his injuries were so severe that he could barely move. His right arm was burned to the point of bone, and his prosthetic arm was melting. He sustained other deep wounds, so severe that even holy water had difficulty healing them. A demon man continued to attack Hajime. Accompanied by a dragon, he introduced himself as Fried Bauer and declared himself "a faithful apostle of God who will bring down divine punishment on all heretics." Even though he regained consciousness, he was in a dire situation. It was Tio who saved him. Tio transformed into a black dragon, and Fried could not hide his surprise at seeing him. "I never thought I'd encounter a surviving dragon-man in a place like this..." he said, showing his first panicked expression.
A showdown between Hajime and Fried, who has surpassed his limits
Despite his injuries, Hajime used his limit-breaking power to counterattack, successfully dealing significant damage to Fried. However, the moment he tried to pursue him to deliver the final blow, the time limit expired and he collapsed, coughing up a great deal of blood. Freed, who had also sustained damage to his internal organs, was also riding the dragon's back and in a battered state. As a last resort, Freed attempted to destroy the keystone that was calming the magma, burying Hajime and his companions along with the Great Labyrinth. Afterwards, Tio intercepted the wounded Freed and succeeded in driving him away. However, Hajime and his companions' whereabouts remained unknown. And so the curtains fell on Freed's first direct confrontation with him in a draw.
"Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest" Season 2 Summary
So far, we've given you a brief synopsis of the second season of "Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest." What did you think? Since he'll likely become a rival to Freed, I think this will be an exciting scene in the second season. It's still unclear how much of the original work will be adapted into the anime, but I'm looking forward to seeing how much of the original work will be adapted.
