Characters in Edens Zero, both enemies and allies, possess special abilities called "Ether Gear," which they use to fight and control machines. Today, we'll be introducing the characters' Ether Gear abilities! From attack-focused Ether Gear to healing Ether Gear, to slightly more specialized Ether Gear than combat gear, we'll introduce various Ether Gear abilities.
Satan Gravity
Gravity Ether Gear. This Ether Gear was inherited from Ziggy and is used by the protagonist, Shiki. His main attack is a heavy punch called "Juuken," which uses gravity to power his fists. He can then apply this to a variety of techniques. While his Gravity Ether Gear is primarily suited to close-quarters combat, it can also be used to engage those around him in attacks.
Magical Style: Gravity Wave
This technique generates gravity, drawing in those around him. By placing his palm on the ground, all those around him are drawn toward Shiki. Shiki can then use "Juuken Ranbu" to deliver a barrage of heavy punches to the drawn enemy, precisely knocking them away in the face.
Magical Style: Heavy Comet
This technique manipulates gravity, leaping into the air and creating a gravitational field at the user's feet, concentrating the force of gravity. Using that force, the user steps forward, using the ceiling as a foothold to plummet toward the enemy and slam them into the ground. The gravity gathering at the user's feet was so extreme that it displayed the identification code "Demon King" on the Star Alliance military's sensors. When Shiki's Ziggy stopped working as a child, he cried, saying, "They still haven't taught me how to use Heavy Comet," so it's believed that Heavy Comet is a technique he invented on his own.
Magical Style: Heavy Turning Kick
This technique adds gravity to a spin kick. Since the user can stay in the air, a pivot foot is not required, and it's even possible to kick two people at once using both feet. However, the damage dealt by a single hit isn't particularly great, and even enemies encountered early in the game weren't knocked out with a single hit.
Magical Style: Center of Gravity
This technique applies gravity to anything it touches, causing it to fall to the ground. It's used to drag down flying machines ridden in mechs, and to return a car that was caught in the air during combat to the ground. It's primarily a capture technique, and is rarely used as an attack during combat.
Magical Style: Heavy Bullet
A long-range attack in which the user creates a gravity ball in their fist and fires it directly at the enemy. Enemies hit directly by the heavy bullet are immobilized by gravity and suffer crushing damage. In the original work, the effect resembles an electric shock, and damaged enemies exhale smoke from their mouths, suggesting that the heavy bullet may also have electrical properties.
Magical Style: Gravity Impact
This technique, used in the battle with Kou Tekitsugu, converts the opponent's attack into his own power. Since Kou Tekitsugu was not damaged by attacks using Ether Gear or his own attacks, Shiki used Ether Gear to block the missiles fired by Kou Tekitsugu with one hand and release the power with the other. Since Ether Gear cannot inflict damage, Shiki used his bare hand instead of Ether Gear to deliver the blow. This was a powerful technique.
Magical Style: Star Breaker
This special move ended the fight with Drakken. It's written as "Star Breaker" and pronounced "Meteor Breaker." This blow, delivered in overdrive, generates a giant gravity ball in the fist and unleashes it toward the opponent. Simply put, it's like a super-powerful heavy bullet. Of course, its destructive power is incomparable to that of a heavy bullet.
Cat Reaper
Jumping Ether Gear. It allows the user to jump from the present to the past, returning to the past world while retaining their current memories. However, it is not exactly the same world. There are some changes, such as Drakken calling Rebecca No. 30 instead of No. 29, so it feels like a parallel world on a different timeline. It has been said that this ability "may have the power to save the universe," and it will undoubtedly be a key factor in the future.
Makina Maker
Wise's Ether Gear allows him to freely modify machines. The machines he can modify range from small objects like guns to large objects like spaceships. During battle, he can also modify weapons to upgrade their performance, instantly creating weapons suited to the battle, such as converting an assault rifle into a flamethrower.
Million Bullet Online
This technique was used by Wise on Mosco, who was being controlled by the enemy. He prepared modified guns on the ground and concentrated fire on Mosco, who was flying through the air. Approximately 15 devices were prepared, each with four gun barrels. Mosco was hit by this attack and shot down from the air to the ground, rendering him unable to fight.
Atlas Flame
A flamethrower made from a modified assault rifle. This weapon was modified to burn trees while escaping Guildst, and is so large it requires two hands to use. It can burn a fairly large area, instantly starting a forest fire.
Arsenal Suit
Wise describes it as a "weaponized steel warrior," but in reality it's the "Arsenal Suit Type 1" created by Hermit, a specially armed exoskeleton tailored to Wise's abilities. When worn, it boosts power levels several times, and the parts can be rearranged in real time, allowing for flexible weapon shape and abilities. His most powerful move is the "Metallica Explosion," which doesn't use guns or other weapons, but instead knocks enemies flying with his enlarged arms.
Soul Blade
Homura's sword is an Ether Gear. Using the "Valkyrie's Sword Style" sword technique, she cuts a rocket launcher's homing bullet in half with a single slash. The sword Homura wields is Valkyrie's, and the Sister and Witch recognize it at a glance.
Panther Claw Dance
This technique was used to escape Guild Strike. It focuses more on speed than attack, and involves unleashing the two-handed sword's Ether Gear, flying through the air and slashing the surrounding area.
Odin Strike
This is the ultimate technique, summoning countless swords into the air to attack the enemy all at once. It's the ultimate technique of the "Valkyrie Itto-ryu" style, and was used by her master, Valkyrie, at the risk of her own life. Pyra, who had lost control of her body, used the Odin Strike as a decoy, piercing the enemy's body with Valkyrie's sword hidden inside, defeating them.
Star Drain
Ether Gear absorbs stellar ether and refines weapons. It's almost identical to the ability Erza used in Fairy Tail, using stellar ether to create weapons tailored to her fighting style. While there aren't many Star Drains in the original work, we expect their numbers to increase.
Seven Star Sword
Fans of Hiro Mashima's works will be familiar with the Seven Star Sword. It's pronounced "Grand Chariot," and like the previous game, the stance is performed with seven fingers raised. One change from RAVE and Fairy Tail is that Elsie's line, "Be judged by the seven stars," has been changed to "Be engraved by the seven stars." The move fires a beam of light shaped like the Big Dipper, similar to the Seven Star Sword in Fairy Tail.
Dispel Driver
This is a technique used by the nun, causing both hands to glow and radiate light over a wide area. While the exact function is not explained, it appears to heal a petrified human at once, suggesting it is a technique that heals status ailments over a wide area. For some reason, when using this technique, the nun strips off her habit and is left in her underwear, but the reason for this remains a mystery.
Lightning Ether
This is a wide-range attack magic, even among the Witch's techniques, which utilizes various ether elements when equipped with a battle dress. It sends a lightning-element attack across the floor, electrocuting enemies all at once. While technically an ether attack, its appearance has led to it being referred to as magic, leading to its nickname, the "Steel Witch."
