<![CDATA[The original is a battle manga by Akutami Gege, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018, and is scheduled to be broadcast as a TV anime in October 2020. It is a hot-blooded battle story with many gag elements, and the content is typical of a boys' manga, but since the subject matter is "curses," there are quite a few negative words such as "kill" and "die" and grotesque scenes. The protagonist, Yuji Itadori, who has just entered high school, eats the curse "Ryomen Sukuna" after an incident. Normally, people who absorb a curse are consumed by the curse, but Itadori miraculously becomes a vessel for the curse and survives, and he then fights against the curse. In this article, I would like to introduce the plot of the original "Jujutsu Kaisen," which is also scheduled to be made into an anime.

Volume 1 - Ryomen Sukuna

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 1
The protagonist of this work, Yuji Itadori, is a first-year student at Sugisawa Third High School who is a normal high school student with outstanding athletic ability, even if he is a little mischievous. Itadori makes it a point to leave school at 5pm in the evening to visit his hospitalized grandfather. For this reason, he does not belong to any sports clubs, but joined the Occult Research Club, where he can act freely. Itadori went to visit his grandfather as usual, but his grandfather dies with the last words, "You should die surrounded by many people. Don't end up like me." These words later became the basis for Itadori's actions and decisions, and according to Itadori, they were a kind of curse. After his grandpa's death, Itadori went through the formalities at the hospital and met a sorcerer named Fushiguro Megumi, who was searching for curses. The box with the talisman that Itadori picked up by chance was like a talisman that warded off curses, but at the same time, it was a very dangerous curse itself. Itadori handed the box over obediently, but it was empty... A senior from the Oka Research Club, who was interested in the box, took out the contents and was about to peel off the talisman. Sensing danger, Fushiguro hurried to the school where the senior was, and Itadori followed him. When they arrived at the school, the talisman had already been peeled off and the place was overflowing with curses. The only way to counter cursed energy is with cursed energy. Hearing that it is possible to gain cursed energy by absorbing it into oneself, Itadori ate the cursed talisman, "Ryomen Sukuna". Even just eating a normal curse can result in death, but this curse is the highest level, even among those cursed, and is called a special-grade cursed object. Fushiguro realizes that Itadori will die, but Itadori has not been consumed by the curse and has retained his ego. The two manage to rescue their senpai, but Itadori, who has eaten the curse, is recognized as a cursed person and is sentenced to death.

Itadori Yuji, who will fight against curses as a sorcerer

Itadori is forced to make a decision
Gojo Satoru, who was interested in Itadori who showed resistance to the special grade cursed object "Ryomen Sukuna", suggests that Itadori absorb all of Sukuna. If it can reduce the damage caused by the curse, Itadori decides to fight as a sorcerer. In order to fight as a sorcerer, Itadori transfers to the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical College (Jujutsu Technical College), where he will fight against curses and search for Sukuna while training.

The only girl, Kugisaki Nobara

Kugisaki Nobara
Itadori transferred to the Jujutsu Technical College, but when he heard that there was another new student, he went to pick her up. There he met Kugisaki Nobara, who came from the very countryside. Nobara has a strong-willed personality and is composed, and she makes fun of Itadori, who knows nothing about cursed spirits. When Gojo told them they were going on a tour of Tokyo, Itadori and Nobara, who came from the countryside, were excited, but they headed to an abandoned building with curses. Their purpose was to see Itadori and Nobara, especially Nobara's abilities. According to Gojo, if you're not a little crazy, you'll fail at hunting cursed spirits, so this field test was conducted to see how crazy Nobara is. Although they were in a pinch, Itadori and Nobara cooperated and successfully passed the test. Gojo said that Nobara was really crazy.

A sudden and desperate situation! !

Special grade cursed spirit in an abandoned building
A cursed fetus was found in the second dormitory for inmates (juvenile detention center), and Itadori and the other two were tasked with identifying and rescuing survivors. Once the Cursed Womb has transformed, it will be as powerful as a special grade, so they are strongly advised to avoid fighting, and so they go inside. There are no survivors inside, and a special grade cursed spirit suddenly appears in front of the three of them. In an instant, Nobara is moved to another location, and Itadori's left arm is amputated. With no way to fight back, Itadori tells Fushiguro to take Nobara and escape. He plans to summon Sukuna to fight. Even though he is in tatters, Itadori waits for Fushiguro's signal. Then the barking of the jade dog echoes through the air. Hearing Fushiguro's signal, Itadori gives his body to Sukuna.

Volume 2 Jutai Taiten

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 2
After swapping places with Itadori, Sukuna tries to think of ways to trouble Itadori and side with the special-grade cursed spirits... but the less intelligent cursed spirits attack Sukuna. Sukuna shows the difference in their ranks by using his overwhelming fighting power to ward off the attacking cursed spirits. Sukuna, who has retrieved his finger from the cursed spirit, appears in front of Fushiguro. Itadori is having trouble swapping places as a price for using Sukuna without any restrictions. Taking advantage of this, Sukuna rips out Itadori's heart and takes him hostage. Sukuna then eats Itadori's finger, increasing his cursed power and tries to kill Fushiguro. Sukuna appreciates Fushiguro's fighting ability, but in the current situation, Sukuna is superior. Fushiguro tries to sacrifice himself to use his secret weapon, but Itadori returns, knowing that he will die.

Return from Death, and Training

Itadori Returns
Itadori was thought to be dead, but he was alive in Sukuna's innate domain. Itadori is brought back to life by making two vows with Sukuna, but instead of returning to his home immediately, he decides to train under Gojo. Itadori learns how to control his cursed energy and has the basic knowledge of jujutsu, and is happy to be trained by Gojo. However, it is said that 80% of jujutsu is innate talent, so Itadori is unable to use it. Gojo therefore teaches Itadori a fighting style that combines cursed energy with Itadori's martial arts. Incidentally, Gojo believes that Sukuna's magic formula will soon be engraved on Itadori's body.

This guy was strong after all!

Gojo Satoru
To win the war between cursed spirits and sorcerers, Geto and the cursed spirits want to defeat Gojo and recruit Itadori, who is harboring Sukuna, as their ally. Jogo, an unregistered special-grade cursed spirit, ignores Geto's warning and attacks Gojo alone. Jogo has the strength of 8 to 9 of Sukuna's fingers, but is easily defeated. Gojo, who has the time, brings Itadori to observe.

Volume 3: Young Fish and Reverse Punishment

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 3
Jujutsu Technical College and its sister school, Kyoto School. Before the exchange event between the two schools, Kyoto School comes to Tokyo School. Toudou from Kyoto School, who came to test his strength, challenges Fushiguro to a fight, and Maki's sister Mai challenges Nobara to a fight. It was a battle of skill differences, and Kyoto School was on the offensive one-sidedly, but Inumaki and Panda intervened and the situation was resolved. Toudou told them to tell Okkotsu to participate as well, and Kyoto School left.

Itadori and Nanami

Nanami Kento
Itadori accompanies Nanami in the investigation of the incident that occurred at the movie theater. Nanami has an unusual career history, having been a sorcerer, a salaryman, and then returning to being a sorcerer. He is a junior that Gojo trusts, and Nanami also trusts Gojo. He doesn't seem to respect him (lol). Nanami doesn't like the way his superiors do things, but he is a solid person who follows the rules, and he doesn't recognize Itadori as a sorcerer. However, it's not that he dislikes him, he tells him to prove himself. Nanami teaches Itadori not only about fighting, but also how to be a person. At first, they are an awkward pair, but they gradually come to know each other and develop a good relationship as time goes by.

Mahito, a cursed spirit who can change the body by touching the soul

Mahito
After setting her sights on the culprit at the movie theater, Nanami goes to the culprit alone, knowing it's a trap. Waiting for her there is the unregistered special-grade cursed spirit Mahito. Mahito uses a technique called "Muitenhen" that allows him to change the shape of the soul by touching it. Nanami usually has a time limit, but when she judges that her technique is incompatible with it, she lifts the limit (which Nanami calls overtime work) and even reveals the technique.
Nanami launches a wide-range attack using the extended technique "Kawara Otaku Kawara Otaku," which infuses the destroyed target with cursed energy, and takes advantage of Mahito's opening to attack the weak spot created by the technique. When Mahito falls, Nanami retreats.

Junpei is seduced by Mahito

Screaming Itadori
It was reported that a boy named Yoshino Junpei was at the movie theater where the incident occurred. Itadori investigates whether Junpei is involved in the incident. By chance, Itadori and Junpei hit it off and end up eating at Junpei's house. Junpei finds out that Itadori is a sorcerer, but he is attracted to Itadori's humanity and thinks that he too cannot kill people. However, after his mother was killed by a curse, Junpei goes berserk and starts cursing the students who bullied him. Will Junpei hear Itadori's voice trying to stop him?

Volume 4: I'll Kill You

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 4
Itadori ends up fighting Junpei, who has been transformed by Mahito. He asks Sukuna for help, but Sukuna refuses and together with Mahito, they mock Itadori. With all his training, Itadori has Mahito calling him his nemesis even without Sukuna's help. However, he is just one step behind Mahito in terms of strength and is forced into a difficult battle when Nanami appears to help. Working together, the two corner Mahito, but Nanami is trapped in Mahito's domain using the Domain Expansion "Self-Containing Entonsoku". Itadori then invades, and with Itadori's intrusion, Mahito comes into contact with Sukuna's soul again and is defeated by Sukuna in an instant.

Reunion with friends

Itadori reunites with friends
Gojo's surprise appearance for Itadori was a plan to suddenly appear at the exchange event with the Kyoto school. While the Tokyo and Kyoto schools were meeting, Gojo brought Itadori as a souvenir for the Tokyo school. Itadori was in high spirits, while the Tokyo school members were completely bored, in stark contrast to Gojo... (laughs) And so the exchange event between the Tokyo and Kyoto schools began.

Volume 5 Kyoto Sister School Exchange Meeting

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 5
The exchange meeting is meant to help students get to know their friends and themselves through competition, but the Kyoto school is trying to kill Itadori by order of the principal. Toudou, acting unrelated to such instructions, wants to fight Itadori one-on-one and gives him training in the fight. Fushiguro vs Kamo, Nobara vs Nishimiya, Maki vs Mai, Panda vs Mechamaru, Inumaki vs Miwa. The battle between the Tokyo school, who are trying to protect Itadori while defeating the cursed spirits, and the Kyoto school, who are trying to kill Itadori at all costs, begins.

Volume 6 Black Flash

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 6
A huge cursed spirit suddenly appears while they are fighting. It is the special grade cursed spirit Hanami of Geto's faction. Since Geto has sent cursed spirits other than Hanami, the exchange event is temporarily suspended, and the Jujutsu Technical College challenges the cursed spirits in an all-out battle. While the Itadori/Toudou duo was fighting well against Hanami, Gojo defeated all the cursed spirits except Hanami and used the composite Hollow spell "Mashi", forcing Hanami to retreat. A sudden attack from Geto's group. What was their aim?

Finally mastering the "Black Flash"

Itadori firing a black flash
When cursed energy collides with the blow within an error of 0.000001 seconds, a distortion of space occurs, and at that moment, the cursed energy glows black. The power of the "Black Flash" is 2.5 times the normal power on average. The power is 2.5 because they wanted to express it in a more impactful way than doubling it. Since 2 of 1 is 1, the author says that the minimum value of cursed energy is 2 (lol). Itadori and Todo rush to the aid of Fushiguro and Maki, who are fighting Hanami, but Todo says he won't lay hands on Itadori until he has perfected "Black Flash." Itadori is unable to use "Black Flash" due to his anger and distracted thoughts, so Todo slaps him to encourage him. This clears his mind, and Itadori is so focused that he is drooling despite being in the middle of a battle, and he finally masters "Black Flash."

Volume 7 Kishou Raito

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 7
The attack by Geto's group. Their aim was to take advantage of the chaos to take out Sukuna's six fingers and Cursed Womb Nine Phases Diagrams 1-3, which were kept at the Jujutsu Technical College. Although the Jujutsu Technical College drove away the cursed spirits, they were not in a position to be completely happy, as the special-grade cursed object had been stolen and there had been casualties. Still, the most important thing was that the students were safe. With all this commotion, it seemed like the get-together would be canceled, but Gojo suggested that they all play baseball (lol)

How far will the anime go? Introducing the original story (spoiler alert!) Summary

Itadori anime
What did you think?
Anime is often 12 episodes per season, which is roughly equivalent to volumes 5 to 8 of the manga. The end of the interleague games in the middle of volume 7 is a good place to start, so I think this is the end of the first season of the anime. If there is room, they may also include baseball scenes and content from volume 0! I can't wait for the anime to air, but before that, let's read the original work and review it! !
