The phrase "How cute" with a scornful expression is emblematic of Kaguya-sama: Love is War's protagonist, Kaguya Shinomiya. It's a derogatory phrase used primarily towards Shirogane when he has performed an act that's tantamount to a confession. However, these are words Kaguya uses in Shirogane's simulation, and if he reaches this point at the end of his thoughts, it represents defeat, or a dead end for Shirogane. This memorable first "cute thing" moment begins when Fujiwara brings free tickets to a romantic movie. Shirogane tries to invite Kaguya, but the movie has a superstition that says that if a man and a woman go together, they will end up together. Despite this, if he were to invite Kaguya, it would be tantamount to a confession! Kaguya suddenly appears in Shirogane's mind! And it would be his first "cute thing"! For Shirogane, that's a no-no! It's something he absolutely cannot tolerate!
Cute Things 2: Kaguya-sama Wants to Be Stopped (Anime Episode 1, Part B)
It all started when Kaguya received a love letter. Shirogane naturally knew that Kaguya should never respond to a love letter. And Kaguya has no intention of responding to the love letter either.
